Alright, right now I am making Frugal Video, a horror comedy. In 2008, I want to make the feel good, inspirational film of the year. Between the two, I want to make a good, college age comedy.
One of the ideas I'm working on is tenatively titled "2D Me" which would require live action and animation interactions that I cannot afford to do.
Another idea is this: Fat Chicks.
I chose the title because it's semi degrading but nothing worth protesting. It works well with some of the feminist themes of the movie. I figured a group of overweight people and FAs would probably be the best to ask.
The story centers around an egotistical man who can't seem to get a girlfriend. He's an anti hero. I'm worried as hell about offending people by explaining his views on women... Dude, they are not mine. He's very superficial, and he sees that as being his problem. But the truth is, he's self important, egotistical, and overall, sexist.
Believe he could "score better" by making himself more available to bigger women, he creates a school support group for overwieght girls. Creating himself as a understanding guy, he does succeed.
Meanwhile, one of his classmates has secretly crushed on him for a while. She thinks that, deep down, he's a sensitive guy. Of course, this change of events has her deciding to "fatten" herself to his liking, and getting sick as well.
I'm thinking of it as a black comedy that mocks the sexist, superficial male, and people who are willing to change themselves to fit other people's standards, and also some of the stupid college ******** I go to school with anyway.
Thoughts?

Well...something has to happen to the guy as well as the girl. Like in Revenge of the Nerds where the chick realized the magical sex skills of the nerd.
Edited because I'm an idiot.
....But that's just a suggestion.

Well, it's set in the Chicago Suburbs.... Which means that all we can probably cast are white people...
Here's the deal: I'm a comedy writer/director.... But a Black (as in dark) comedy. Will something bad happen to both people? YES! Will they fix their mistakes and be happy? Oh, maybe the girl. She's acting out of social pressure and not out of pure egotism. But still, generally my idea is not to have people learn their lesson and be happy, I rather have people not learn their lesson and be miserable.

I personally think you might get more viewers if you turn it kind of 'Shallow Hal' meets 'The Ringer'. (Instead of a dark comedy, which will leave with an audience of narcissits and cynics. ) Have him pretend to be the sensitive guy to get action, and then actually find himself wanting to change and become a better person and in the end bettering himself and the girl realizing she doesn't need to change herself for others... If you want to keep the darkness, then don't have her come back to him, and leave him rejected by her and looking for love at the end...But maintain the laughs. >Just a thought. <

All respect to the Farelly Brothers, I rather go with a more detached, darker film that is high on laughs. I do believe superficial, egotistical people can change.
However, i don't think it's that easy. And if it's more realistic to have suffering in something that is based more in realism then fantasy, I must go with that.

Gah! *slaps forehead* I have no idea why I read it as "Black Comedy". I guess because I just got back from Little Man.
...Gah I'm stupid sometimes. stare
