I recently acquired Morrowind for my PC. Something that has been bugging me though is that when i get in a fight, I keep hitting the enemy with my sword, and it doesnt do anything! not as in no damage, as in there is no indication whatsoever of it hitting. I'm lucky to get 3-4 hits in one fight! Any words of wisdom?

Morrowind combat uses a "die-based" system, so if you're using a weapon you're not skilled in, when it rolls the "die" against the enemies "difficulty check", you'll be rolling significantly lower, and missing quite often.
Put the weapon type you need as a major skill, and make certain that you're using that weapon type. If you do, you won't miss.

EDIT: or is it that as the skill rises you miss less?

Well, a few other things matter.
If you're Long Blade skill is relatively high, 40 or so, you should hit rather easily.
But your Stats also come into play.
I believe the Stat that effects accuracy is Agility. If it's exceptionally low, then you'll miss alot.

Agility also affects being hit. If you're going to raise a single, individual stat on Morrowind to make you invincible, Agility should be it. If your agility is high enough, you'll always hit your enemy and your enemy will never be able to return the favor.

Oblivion is more realistic, Morrowind Was all on dice and Die, which made it dodgey. More Like D&D than a First person RPG. Oblivion Is kind of like "Hey if you swing and it comes anywhere near the other bloke, It will hit him!"
I <3 Oblivion.

Yeah that bothers me about Morrowind, particularly the magic area. At least in Oblivion it requires you to be a certain level before being able to perform the spell. And when you level up in the fighting skills, you usually learn new moves (like the knocking the weapon from their hands trick). Of course, they probably realized this and made those changes for Oblivion.
Each game has its ups and downs. 3nodding I like both of these games though.
