Well I'm just out of the 14-16 group so I can't say for sure. But, food does help sweatdrop Giving out food for answers always works, though it's not the bets way to do things. My favourite sunday school teachers have been the ones who teach the lesson in a different way - not out of the manual but tell it with their own personal flair or twist. Take my current teacher, he will blab on for hours about certain things. In fact, we've gone half an hour over-time and none of us care, we're all entertained. He'll bring up interesting points about the stories. Like when talking about Christ walking on water he'll try to figure out with us what changes in the water to make him be able to walk on it. ((Ie the concistancy of it, the amount of air in it etc). Also, he'll ask odd questions, such as, "if you can walk on water can you walk on land" I can't really explain exactly how he does it but he personalizes it without getting really mushy I guess. It's a cool way to do things. Another of my favourite teachers has a totally different style. It's more serious. He will study the topic for the week as to know it and then have us look up scriptures and then explain the principals. He'll add his experiences to it and testify of the things he's taught. - this might not work as well with the 14-16 as it does the 17-18 year olds. I'd say make it your own, don't just go from the book, if you know interesting facts or questions add them in. If your a good artist draw it out. Whatever works best do it with love for the kids.

Currently I have been teaching the 12~13 class. At first I had taught from the manual, but learned it was only 'somewhat' effective. Having something new to teach each week is a GREAT way to catch their attention. This years manual is on the New Testament, It's definitely great and everything. But EVERY lesson is pretty much the same in the manual. So often I make a game or an interactive lesson, getting them to participate is also a very effective way for people to learn ^^
