(Decided to get rid of all the un-needed 'reserves')

His eyes scanned the room before him. It was white, almost blinding to him. He shut his eyes tightly; and decided to try and pretend it wasn’t there.

He opened them again. It was still white.

His new guardian, Icarus, stood before him. He acted happy, but his face seemed to show a state of shock at the manner of dress he was wearing. Did he have a problem? This wasn’t a good start at all now was it?

His electric blue hair fell over his dull eye. The bright “rave green” eye continued to scan the living room; or what this room seemed to be.

Icarus moved in front of him. Though he was older; he wasn’t taller then him in the least.

“Would you like to see your room?”

He responded with a nod, and nothing more. It wasn’t a question that required speaking.

“Okay then. Follow me.”

This man was exceptionally cheery. It was so happy, it started to annoy him at times, but he learned to get over it. His eyes watched as Icarus started up the stairs.

“Wait.”

“Yes Photicant? What is it?”

“Do you have a basement?”

“Yes… why?”

“May I have a room down there?” He tilted his head, something he learned that small dogs often did when they tried to convince someone for something. Icarus looked surprised at the gesture.

“Uhm… it’s unfinished. Besides, why would you want a room down there? It’s all dark and dreary. Come on upstairs.”

Photicant planted his feet and crossed his thin arms.

“Really. I’d prefer a room down there.” He said this sternly changing his mood quickly from ‘innocent’ to angry.

“Fine. Fine. I’m just warning you. It gets cold down there.”

Icarus turned around and went down the opposite hall. Photicant followed intently, absorbing the surroundings of the household, and all the other residents in it. Sadly, after navigating to the end of the hall, he realized at the moment he was the oldest “child” in this house, from what he could see anyway.

As he stepped down the basement, the stairs creaked from his heavy steps and the thick souls of his boots. Below, he could see Icarus struggling to find the cord to turn on the light. Once found, the basement glowed an eerie yellow that illuminated the large room in a glowing circle that slowly darkened as it fanned out.

Photicant finished walking down the stairs and planted himself below the light.

“Here it is…are you sure you want to stay down here? It seems kinda musty.”

“I’m positive. Thank you Icarus.”

“It’s really no problem. Now that you’re here, why don’t you take off that mask of yours? I can’t even see your face.”

Photicant gave Icarus a glare. He was never comfortable showing his face to anybody. He didn’t believe anything was really –right- with it. But the people that deserved to look at his face were only his closest friends. He turned his head over his shoulder, looking up the stairs to see if anybody was gazing down at them. It was empty.

He figured since Icarus was going to be his guardian until he continued on his own, he would relieve the mask from his face. His slender hands reached towards his hairline, where the zipper stopped to let his bright hair flow out. His small hands pulled the zipper downwards until it hit the oxygen receiving area of the mask. His other hand reached to the back of his head, where he unzipped the back of the mask.

He slowly lifted the mask from his head, and took a deep breath. The air really was musty in the basement. His eyes then turned to Icarus. His neon hair was actually an un-spiked mow hawk. The rest of his hair was extremely short so that it was easily covered. His lips were adorned with 3 piercings. One in the center of his bottom lip and two on each side.
His nose was thin and pointed, and his eyes heavily coated with black eyeliner.

At first Icarus seemed shocked, but he seemed to get over it.

“Done your look?”

“Yes. Thank you very much Photicant.”

Photicant then proceeded to put his mask back upon his head. Once it was zipped back up. He continued to breath the scentless, but pure air, into his system.

“Well… I’ll have to help you move a bed and furniture in here, but it’s almost dinner time. We all eat together, so, get washed and all that other good stuff.” With that, Icarus walked up the stairs and left Photicant standing in the basement.

Photicant smiled under his mask. He would make this place look fantastic.
