Gavin perked up. "Cookies!"
"Oh dear, I'm not sure you want him on a sugar high," Remi smiled, trying to remember the first time she gave Gavin cookies. He was running throughout the apartment like a madman for hours.
"I trust your judgement," Remi nodded at Natalie. "I don't have any experience in that area, so I'll just leave it all up to you."
When she mentioned the party Remi instantly tried to think of who could help out. A party would be a really fun way to get to know everyone. Hmmm...she couldn't host it, as much as she wanted too. One person came to mind...
"Well," she started hesitantly. "You might want to try Marc. He definitely would seem the type, though I don't know if you'd really want to deal with someone like him. Speaking of which, I haven't seen him around lately, nor Haki. Hmmm..."
She paused for a moment, trying to remember the last time she ran into the adorable toddler and her flamboyant guardian.
"If I somehow run into him again I can ask him for you," she said, trying to be nice. In truth she really didn't want to run into Marc, because that would mean he would tease her about those stupid costumes. She wanted to burn those...but obligation to repay him for that priceless lamp kept her from doing it.

"I'll ask Mictlan to make them sugar free. Might not help much, but..." She shrugged.
Marc. Hadrian's....
"... I think it's best if you talked to him. I've... never met the man, myself." And if I were to meet him, I'm not sure what I'd do. Try and force him and Hadrian back together?
"But so far, the plans are to have it in the school building, and allow everybody to invite friends and family from off the compound. And we're going to have an area for the kids and everything. A big costume party! I hope I can pull it off..."

Remi vaguely noticed the hesitation in Natalie. She blinked for a moment as if to say, What's wrong?, but then decided against actually vocalizing the question. Something was up, that's for sure.
"Well, I'll talk to him then," she said, still wondering what that was all about. "He's just been teasing me over the loss of the lamp that Gavin broke. He thinks he can dress me up in strange costumes and run errands for him as payment. Not going to happen."
She laughed a bit nervously after that. Truthfully, if he brought it up she would probably cave in and do it anyways, just to fulfill her obligation. She had agreed to it afterall.
"I think you'll pull it off just fine," Remi smiled in reassurance. "We'll get Marc to set it up, you can help with costumes, and I can do...well, I'll do something. Maybe I'll pull in Stephan or Hadrian, or someone."

"I think we should keep it mostly a surprise, actually. It should be for everybody's enjoyment. And if we're all working on it, then, well..." She shrugged.
"... Costumes? That's.... interesting." Well, if the man made poor Remi run around in strange costumes... she wondered what he did to Hadrian.
She shook away the random thought, then stood up, setting Gavin down on the floor.
"Well, then. I should be getting to work - you can bring Gavin over whenever you want, okay?" She kneeled, smiling at Gavin. "And I promise lots of root beer floats. Kay?"

"Ah, I understand," Remi said. Surprise costume party. Well this should be interesting. Now she just needed to find a costume.
"Well, we shouldn't be keeping you from your work," Remi said, picking Gavin up considering his current aversion to stairs. He readily latched onto her neck for more support.
At the mention of more root beer floats, Gavin smiled. "Yes! Two scoops!"
Remi laughed. "You might find him sneaking over. He's proven to be quite the escape artist. Well, I guess we'll get going then. Thank you so much."
As she started to exit, she paused to remember one last little detail. "Oh! I almost forgot. How am I supposed to pay you?"

"Of course, two scoops! And I'll be sure to keep an eye out for him, Remi." Natalie smiled at the two, then blinked at the question. Ummm... hm. "Cash, I guess? She shrugged. "I have most of the fabric already, so..."
She named a figure. It was a little bit lower than it should have been, but this was for a friend. Plus... no rent, remember? And another job with Hadrian. She could manage.
"How does that sound?"

Remi considered the figure. Definitely lower than what she thought it was going to be. That's always a wonderful thing.
"That sounds fine," Remi smiled, shifting Gavin to her hip to make it more comfortable. "I'll bring the money by sometime later. Either when they're finished or when I have the chance beforehand. Thank you so much again!"
Gavin waved goodbye over Remi's shoulder at Natalie as they left. He would definitely be sneaking over here more. Root beer floats and ice cream. What else could a little boy want?

"You're very welcome!" Natalie waved to the two, giving a secret, secret wink to Gavin. She was thinking... maybe two and a half scoops? If the boy was good, of course.
When the door closed, Natalie turned and surveyed the damage. Time to get to cleaning. And then? On to cutting and pinning and sewing. She'd make Gavin's clothing - or at least get it all started, before working any more on her costume.
And when she got tired of sewing...?
There was always wig and accessory work to do...
