Dis Domnu shtolts tiger I'm chabad so i don't read from the torah. Why don't chabad folk read from the Torah? It's just girls and women that don't read.

Dis Domnu I see. Why don't women read the Torah? We learn Torah, but we don't read it at shul in front of men. it's considered imodest.

They don't really care where a person starts out -- if you're a Jew, they want to know you and help you connect more with your Jewishness. If you want to connect with Judaism, call up a Chabad house nearby (if you've got one) and ask them when they have evening classes that a beginner could attend. They'll be thrilled.

I read both Torah and Haftarah...I do know both sets of tropes, but I sometimes just ask for a CD to listen to...>.< I'm going to read at my sister's bat mitzvah in the Spring. 3nodding
