What do you do if your in a slump? I've been in a slump for over a year now and I haven't drawing anything really significant. Evey time I pick up a pencil it's like why should I bother. And it's scary because I've never felt this way before in my life. Has this ever happen to any of you before and how did you get over it?

Try something other then drawing, experiment. Sometimes your brain does need a rest. Step back and smell the roses and take a break from drawing them.

I was in the same line. I haven't drawn for few months. I thought I was gonna loose my skills but alas. I needed a break. Do some activities. If you're stressed out, again, take a break do something else. I began to draw again by either inspiration or actually it was drawing avi arts in gaia. Even though they're....*coughs* free and there's no money to it. But again, I am creating a fan base.

As an artist, you will know your particular skills and weaknesses (generally)
Think about your weaknesses and start setting yourself goals that have to do with the steps you will require to overcome those weaknesses.
take it one picture at a time, and dont beat yourself up if you're not pulling off anything significant.

another thing that'll help is finding insperation.
this elusive driving force of all artists is availible everywhere and in some of the most unexpected places. Tv can be a help, the internet, going to the mall, expos etc - anything where you are likely to find what you are looking for in style and practice.

A trick I use is that I try something out of my usual - for instance, if I have been drawing a lot of figures (for comic drawing) and I just keep pulling blanks all the time, I might try some landscapes or if thats not working either I'll go completely "other" and try some graphiti design or photography.

I'm always in a slump. Either I'm drawing a piece or thinking that I should be drawing, but I don't. It kind of sucks. :/ What I would do is look for images or ideas that make you want to draw, that's what I always do. Or I read and listen to music, it often gives me ideas and inspires me.
