This is quite shocking to me and I just found it out tonite. I love anime (doesn't everyone?) but I have to get rid of ALL of my statues and figures. My dad told me a few years ago that something wasn't right about them but I never listened. He didn't have a reason to justify why he said that.
If you saw my testimony in the thread this ties in with it. My youth leader told me that the sickness..or the forces that started it would try and come back. That was after she went and prayed in my room. I've always been able to feel spirits and everytime I pray in my room I get this weird feeling..an unsafe one and it seemed like spirits were all around me. I'm not into any bad things so I thought, "Maybe my sixth sense is just in overdrive."

Also, as much as I pray I wondered how anything could stay in there. Of course they won't leave if my room's a breeding ground for them! Yes it sounds weird but let me explain. Of course I don't see them as idols and it isn't even that statues themselves..it's what's behind them. People do EVERYTHING with anime characters and also who makes them? Japanese and Chinese people. What God(s) do they worship? Getting it now? Those things have spirits attatched to them. I had to do this once before but it was my posters(sailormoon) now it's my figures and statues.I hate to do it, but it's just stuff. I'm just warning everyone else so that hopefully you can avoid this.

what type of anime have you been getting into?! eek
Anime isn't all japanese and chinese- Its a neutral medium. Different animes were created to express different things- its not based on one person's belief.

I for one am a christian anime artist. and there are tons of anime i think have merit.

I haven't experienced that sorta thing with anime yet (I'm not a very avid anime fan, however I do borrow a few from friends every now and then) but my friend was once very into Asian artifacts and culture. She was so into it that she got these little gold buddha statues and gave one ot me and one other friend. As a joke she always came up to us during the day and said "did YOU rub your buddha's tummy for luck today?" It was just a joke. But after I got saved I felt guilty looking at the buddha everytime. And I felt uneasy having it there. It is currently somewhere else now. No clue where. But now that I don't have it in my room where I can see it and feel the presence of something not entirely of my belief I feel better and more uplifted when I pray in my room than I did when it was there.

ok, im not sure i totally agree with this topic, it sounds like your saying 'anything Chinese/Japanese is wrong' but basically my whole PC was manafactured in China, as well as many other things, i believe that it is more the context of the item than the production location, you get me?

Yea. I take that part back. The Spirit has showed me it isn't necessarily the creator of each thing, it's what it stands for. I had to figure that out for myself, but from the things I've thrown away thus far I've figured out why it was bad. I have a list.

Yes I'm well aware of that. I'm into drawing my own anime too, and it has a Christian theme. Like I said on the comment before this one, it's all different things..but it's things you'd never expect from such an anime title, which is my next post.

Here's what I had to trash so far:
My Ryoko dolls, simply because Ryoko means demon caller

My big Rei statue(that costed almost $100 ) small Rei figure and Asuka resin statue because Evangelion is blasphemous.

My Kero plush, Book of Clow and Cardcaptor manga because In Greek mythology, Cerberus, or Kerberos, is a three-headed dog with a serpent or dragon tail, which guards the entrance to the Underworld.

All of my SailorMoon posters for personal reasons.

My Yu Yu Hakusho stuff because the anime is modeled after the Japanese afterlife.

I don't know if I have to get rid of eveything related to each series yet like my Tenchi figure and Ken-oki plush. I hope not... I guess I'll find out.

Like I was saying earlier though...some of this is supposed to be especially for kids. Why on Earth would some of the characters have such a negative meaning as this! That is the reason I say be careful of what you get into. From now on before I buy anything else anime I'm going to look up the meaning and origin of it first.

Yes I did throw it away. I had to. I was going to sell it but I wouldn't want anyone else to have to go through what I did.

Wow, you are absolutely awesome for doing that, and I commend you for it.

I stay away from anime myself. If you look at the very *storylines* of most animes, they are wicked storylines. Spiritworlds, magic., LOTS of "eye candy" I know boys who have unrealistic expetations for how real people are supposed to look because of animation. Every time I watch it, I feel extraordinarily uncomfortable. When I look at the people who are very much into anime, the influences it hason them really disturbs me too.

Of course, it isn't just anime that does that, but I think you're very right. We need to watch our surroundings, what we have, what we watch and listen to. Even if we don't mean it, if we witness sin, it can have a lasting affect.

*hugs* I really, really commend you for making this topic.

Wow, I am not really into anime. I have seen some of the stuff but I never looked at it in that way. If anything to do with a religion other then christianity is it wrong for me to have a little figurine of Baset, an Egyption godess???

That's awesome man. However, not everyone is going to think so. So, here's a little protection:
3The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. 4Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
5One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. 8If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
