Yesterday, on http://www.avatarspirit.net/, it is mentioned that Mako Iwamatsu, the man that opened th doors for Asian American actors died at the age of 72 from esophageal cancer.

when I heard about that I cried for hours. it was so upsetting. sad I wonder what will happen with Avatar.

NamaeX Laluna_Wulf when I heard about that I cried for hours. it was so upsetting. sad I wonder what will happen with Avatar. From what I heard in the community, they'll have a new voice for Iroh for season 3. It probably won't be the same though.

Yeah it has been that long already. He died right after comic con 06. I remember because I was still happy from the news that he was playing Splinter in the CGI TMNT movie. Which ended up being one of his final roles.
Now we just have two months before we get to see how well his replacement voices Iroh.

Well, I heard the new actor worked under him and has played the minor parts of Iroh when Mako wasn't available. So I'm sure it wouldn't be a HUGE difference.
EDIT: I think he should've played Oishi from Higurashi, the role would've been perfect with him playing it. But alas we don't always get what we want. emo
