It couldn't have been a better selection for a den if they had searched for days. The bedding was holding up nicely, and Ausi'Juu was currently taking full advantage of the comfort they offered.
Lying partially on her left side she had her head facing the general direction of the entrance, with one of her forepaws covering her nose and mouth, other foreleg stretched out beside her head for a partial prop.
Pardon her for taking a moment to be lazy, she would have been up and about looking for Daimyn or leaping for joy, but the symptoms she'd caught (sluggishness, in this case, DID overcome enthusiasm) as a side-effect of her new condition, prohibited her from feeling like doing much more than lounging around the den where it was cool.
No wonder she hadn't noticed before, but now she was certain. She'd felt the movement today, just as she was settling into the grasses for a hunt, of all times. An uncertain number of small things had shifted in the area that she knew her womb to be. She knew it instantly, having already experienced it before, and there were more than last time judging by that.
... Hunting was definitely out of the question now.
Ausi's eyes began to open slowly, dull-emerald gaze searching the exit of the den for signs of her mate. She'd deliver the news, (she smiled impishly here) then she'd send him out to fetch her something to eat since it wasn't safe for her to do so herself anymore, without risking the cubs-- and that was not something either of them were about to do.

It was a good thing, under the circumstances, that Daimyn had once again run into Nukta. He'd been reluctant to meet with Ausi's son since their first chance encounter, although he knew things eventually would have to be sorted out. Things had been tense when he and Ausi stayed in their den, and Nukta had stoicly avoided speaking to him. In the end it was again chance that had thrown them together -- or maybe Nukta had intentionally gone to find him. Daimyn wasn't sure. Only this time, Nukta had apologized.
It surprised the white male for some reason; he had assumed that Nukta would have a hard time admitting fault. It was a trait Daimyn held himself, although recently it'd been easier to supress. Looking back, he realized he'd been worried that Nukta would hold some kind of grudge against him. Normally he wouldn't have cared, but that would have hurt Ausi'Juu, and made life difficult in the Pridelands. At any rate, things were straightened out.
He was coming back from this second encounter, his good mood not even dampened in the least by his meeting the foul-tempered lioness, Hasana, at the waterhole.
He slipped through the entrance of his and Ausi's den, half expecting her to have gone exploring or something. But she was there lying lazily on her side.
"I ran into Nukta a bit ago," he started, seating himself beside her and beginning to groom his face with a wet forepaw.

Ausi shifted some, the shadows of the den making way as her head lifted and her forelegs began easing her off of her lying position, allowing the dancing sunlight to illuminate more of the den, her slightly grown and now more noticeably developed underside becoming exposed.
Her expression was curious, if not tired, but she pushed fatigue aside as she was more eager to hear the outcome. He seemed in a good mood, and unharmed (that was important!), it must have gone well?
"Did you? I'm guessing from your mood that it went well?"
She held back the hopeful smile she wanted to show so badly, just in case she was wrong.

Daimyn's gaze flicked over her form once before returning to her eyes, lingering only a moment on her belly -- was it just slightly larger than he remembered it, or was that a trick of the shadows, or her pose, or his wild imagination?
"It did," he answered, lowering himself more comfortably to the floor of the den and giving a satisfied sigh. "We've worked things out between us, I think things are good now."

Ausi smiled again, the expression sort of easing onto her face but parting her maw in more of a soft grin than those reserved curves from before. She moved closer to Daimyn and lowered herself to sit once again, drawing her forelegs up to rest over his upper back while her chin came to rest between his shoulders, partially burying her snout in his mane just like she always enjoyed doing. It tickled some but it was warm, soft, inviting. Her eyes shut without even thinking about it.
"I'm glad, Daimyn, I really am, it means so much to me that you two get along, you both mean the world to me, and they do too."
X) Hint dropped.

His ears pricked by something she'd added. They? He turned some to look back at her, studying her more closely now... and decided that while only just noticeable, that change definately wasn't a trick of the light, or his mind.
He smirked. He may have been slow at taking hints sometimes, but this one wasn't getting past him. "'They'... by 'they', you wouldn't be refurring to small, mewing, miniature yous and mes, now would you?"

"No, the voices in my head." She teased, leaning over to n** at one of his ears before pulling one paw down to brace on the floor, the other resting over his neck as she leaned back some to gaze at him, eyes alight with joy.
"Yes, cubs, and yes, plural, as in more than one, more than two actually. Soon enough there will be little black and white fluffballs to liven up the den.... baba."
Her affection and delight grew tenfold at the thought, she adored motherhood, and it would be wonderful to have infants at her side again, and they'd be theirs... lives that the two of them created together, little bundles of joy, literally, to them.

He began a low purr, just barely audible. It was an odd thought, and something he'd been thinking about recently, since they'd decided to start a family.
He, Daimyn, was going to be a father. It wasn't a surprise, obviously, but something about it still startled him. Beyond the desire to continue his bloodline through any female he could cow, he never thought he'd want a litter of cubs, much less stick around to help raise them. Ausi had pretty much forced his personality into a complete 180 in just a few months.
He'd also seen Mosi and Jini with Nukta, and had realized just how special a father/child relationship could be. Not all fathers had to be like his own.
"That's great, Ausi," he murmured against the purr, unsure of how else to express how he felt.

"Hmm..." She smiled, eyes shutting as she brushed her head against his and contented herself to lay beside him. "So... you were born here, you said... do you remember anything from the last time you were here...?"

"Not a whole lot," he admitted, glad of the topic change. As fuzzy-happy as it made him feel, it was still wierd and awkward. "I wasn't that old when my father came for me. I remember their beliefs being taught to me, even though my mother wasn't from the Pridelands; that was something I never forgot."
It wasn't often he went into depth about his past, but once he started speaking, he found he remembered more than he had thought. "I remember Tai, my sister. And -- a brother, and another sister, but I don't remember their names -- they died on the journey. I don't remember Mufasa, though, or Sarabi, or any of the lions here."
