specifically, olympic shirts. I find I can win bids on them rather inexpensively and the resell them for a 50-250g profit. I'm not sure if I would be wiser to hoard them in hopes of a future value rise, or continue to buy low and sell high and just keep them moving through the gaian economy.
chicky/bunny hats and easter baskets, as well as jolly slippers/hats and santa's gifts, like olympic shirts, seem to be among those event items which flooded gaia. I wasn't around when the former two sets of items hit the market, so I have no idea what the trend has been previously, or where these items have gone in value.
opinions? advice? most appreciated! 3nodding

Well I think that since everybody assumes that they will rise in value everybody hoards up millions of them so they end up not being worth much at all. But you never know. ^_^

So compared to Gaia T-shirts value will eventually increase 0.o but will they release more olympic t-shirts for each olympics? if they're the same t-shirts then the shirts will decrease in value...but if the admins have a policy of not re-releasing event items...then the price will go up stare gonk blagh, I hate trying to predict the value of gaia event items... sweatdrop

Just look at the event items from winter, they haven't really increased at all. Event items released after the 2003 Gaian Ball/Easter usually reach their highest prices when first given out.
They should be worth something someday, but thats years off.

Value does increase, but it's at a rate that's nearly imperceptible. In the nine months since the release of the Jolly Slippers the value has quadrupled from a couple of hundred to a k (at most). This is due to the insane amount of slippers that were available back then. Most users tried to recieve the fairy wings or giftbox several times, thus ending up with multitudes of slippers. Plus, the slippers are pretty ugly... Efforts were made at the time to drain the market of slippers, but even though several hundred were taken away this way I doubt it was even noticable on the grand scale.
Olympic Shirts are even worse, there you could get several just by posting, which earned you gold. And with the greater amount of users now, along with an (I believe) barely increased influx of new users these will be a low-profit, low-risk venture. If you buy a thousand of them and wait a year you might gain some profit, but the price would stagnate as soon as such an amount reached the market.
Ever since the admins realized that event items were viable to become exclusive, rather than avilable to anyone, they've taken measures to insure that such a thing will be far later in the coming - if the problem will arise at all. This is what makes the event item market dead to any serious investor with funds below the hundreds of thousands and a year's worth of patience. The people who do not understand this and keep hoarding small amounts will only insure that this will be so.

right then. I did say I would continue to deal in the vend...that can insure a few hundred profit per shirt...which may be pennies to users who have been on gaia a long time and are (or could be) very very rich, but is significant to me...I did get the nice tip from harakeke to buy in the exchange and then sell in the vend...indeed I made 1k profit off a single item last night. anyways, I'm glad to have more input from you Laz, and what you said only reinforces my original opinion that I should buy them cheaply and sell a little higher for as long as I can. 3nodding

Well, I don't think anyone should hoard until they can actually afford to sit on the items for awhile, so I don't think it's a good idea for you. I like your reselling idea, that's what I used to do with the paper bags when I was new. 3nodding
Not that I don't think anyone should hoard the shirts; any limited's a bargain at 100g.
