As a result of of my parents hating wicca, i have to make all of my own tools and get most of my rituals from the internet. So if anyone knows how to make their own tools, or if you have a ritual for sabbats post them here to help others.

Personilizing Athames -double-edged black handled knife -hydrochloric acid -parffium wax -toothpick
~melt wax in double boiler. ~dip blade of the athame into wax until the wax is about 1/4 inch thick around the knife ~use the tooth pick to carve whatever runes, symbols, or whatever else you want. ~then, drop the acid, drop-by-drop onto the symbols you have made on the blade. (BE CAREFUL) ~ wait about 15-20 minutes for the acid to do its work then wash off the wax, and your done!
ALTERNITAVES- if you cant get a double bladed knife, just grind down one of the sides of the blade.

That seem terribly dangerous, and I don't want to hear of any of you getting in trouble for stealing acid from chem lab. You don't need to personalise an athame. In fact, you don't evern need one. Tools are just that, tools. Sure they can help focus energy, but so can a wand which in most rituals can be used interchangably with an athame, are easier to hide, and much easier to get. (e.i. find a tree, ask permission, get a branch, thank the tree) then you can carve the branch or use paint and draw on your runes and want not. A lot safer method. Just remember this poem when playing with chemicals: Billy was a little boy who is not any more for what he thaught was H2O was H2SO4!

One more note on playing with acids such as HCl, always keep a base near by such as bakeing soda, so if you happen to spill it, you can put baking soda on it and turn it back to nuetral. Also if you get some on your hands wash them immediately. Though you probably wont feel a burning sensation right away, it can cause skin irritation. HCl can also burn holes through your clothing. Using lab quality gloves, and gogles would also help alot. Considering you can go blind if any happens to get in your eye. Also when diluting chemicals, especially acids, always add the chemical to water instead of the water to the chemical incase it splashes up.

I have to agree with Ivy_tsuki. Tools are tools. You don't need them to do rituals. They're props that can help guide energy - but think about this - what if you become interdependent on your tools and one is lost/stolen? I don't know - just something to think about.

True, you dont need them to do ritual but some people like to have them and some people's rituals are centered around their tools.

If you're so attached to your tools and one of them is stolen, what/how would you deal with it?
