In the warring mystical world where unimaginable mysteries lay waiting, there is a place of peace. In the tempest-like minds of residents, there is a structure of serenity. The Gaian National Guard is the Order amidst Chaos, the Peace among War, and the Serenity among the Storm. We are here to serve the citizens of the land we provide and protect. We are here to ensure Order, Peace, and Serenity. We fight for the rights of all creatures, quelling any injustices we perceive. We know our duty and preform it selflessly. We respect all creatures, whether small or large. We support eachother, as a family should. The Gaian National Guard is for the people, yet of the people. We have only the best in mind for the land we love. The Gaian National Guard is a military RP guild based in the Gaia Online world that has been around almost as long as Gaia Online has. (Oldbies will remember us as the original Gaian Army.) We have counted in our ranks some of the most influential Gaians (Arwen, -Mouse-, Aya_Brea, Bolt, and Human Cactuar to name a few), and continue to have extraordinary people in our guild like Tanasha, the creator of The Anti-Munch Project (the original guide's text can be found here). There are four main branches to the Gaian National Guard guild: the Gaian Army, Department 5, the AeroSpace Defense Force, and the Gaian Navy. Each branch has its own specialties, sphere of influence, and the GA, ASDF, and GN have their own subforums to keep things tidy. We have a simplified rank structure and style that solves the problem of rank advancement in an RP setting, and we have recently implemented a system where the branches can fairly fight adversary organizations (Department 5 starts out with one: Chaos Seed).

 The Gaian National Guard Recruitment OutpostThe GNG Recruitment Outpost is located on an island northwest of The Crater (formerly known as Barton Cliffs). It's accessable by boat, or by a long bridge from the mainland. There is definitely a military presence on the island, with periodic patrols flying overhead or cruising along in the calm Gambino Ocean waters. An Arleigh Burke-class destroyer sits off the east coast, while what appears to be an even larger starship appears to be grounded on the north side. Tanks are visible beyond its fences as well as assault-rifle wielding guards. ((OOC: More information on the island's defense capability is available, just PM us or ask OOCly in the thread))

 Gaian Army InformationThe Gaian Army was one the first organizations on Gaia (It's establishment date was on Monday Mar 03, 2003 10:45 A.M.!). Started by Guardian, the GA was founded to defend its interests and her allies. The Gaian Army grew quite large, at several points having to turn away applicants because of the size of their organization. Currently, there are many openings available in the Gaian Army! Tutsumi arrow The Gaian Army Vision:The army will consists of People and Readiness. People are the central thing in an army. The army does not defend, train, stay ready, take risks, and sacrifice for Gaia; people do. It is the same people who believe it is most important to remain ready at all time. Ready to do worldwide missions, to defend Gaia, to support policies, and to defeat adversaries that endanger Gaia and our allies. arrow Code of Conduct:When we bear our uniforms. We must be exemplary in our conduct. We respect others, and by our conduct, we will win the respect of others, and not demand it. Differences that may arise between other citizens will be settled in a fair and equitable manner.
We are loyal to the Gaian Army and we take pride in our unit, our uniform, our discipline, our work, our training and ourselves.
We will obey the legal orders and decrees of our superiors at all times, and do what is right morally.
We will not conduct unauthorized operations or actions that are not under the Gaian Army jurisdiction, unless a member of the Administrative Council has sanctioned it. These operations and actions may include such things as attempting to capture or harm suspected criminals, conducting duties that are outside of the Gaian Army's authority, misusing firearms and supplies that are not permitted, etc.
We are courageous but not reckless. We are devoted to duty but not to ourselves. We will guard our weapons as we guard secrets.
Report all infractions of the Code of Conduct to a member of the Gaian Army Administrative Council. Silence in response to others improper action implies complicity and acceptance on your part and may lead to your own discipline.

Department 5 -Vs.- Chaos Seed Information Saoszuc Department 5 Part SWAT team, part covert ops, part detective squad, but mostly free agents, Department 5 is a small unit with a wide scope and loose reins. In theory, they exist to fill in the grey area between GPD and GNG purview; in practice, they act as a watchdog agency to keep both sides honest... and they also wind up taking the jobs no one else wants. Since all D5 members are drawn from police or military service, they have expertise with those organizations' tactics and equipment; the D5 budget includes training to keep them up to date. Origins Department 5 is the brainchild of Senator R. S. Gainsborough and the committee she heads, the Senate Committee for Asset Management / Military, Police (SCAM/MP). The department's creation is the result of a compromise between Senator Gainsborough, an ardent cautionist and anti-military advocate, and her sparring partner within SCAM/MP, Senator Seth Iroph, an ex-GA man himself. The two often butt heads over what constitutes acceptability in military and police matters. D5 was seen as a way for the committee to actively take part in that process. Of course, in actuality, the department is largely forgotten now that it has been created; as far as the legislators are concerned, its purpose is served just as well on paper as in the flesh. The department is accountable only to SCAM/MP; there are no official liaisons or connections to the GPD or the GNG. The department is mostly self-directed, but occasional political machinations result in orders from on high. What's in it for me? A more character-driven RP environment than other branches of the GNG generally provide. D5 has an emphasis on investigation, which means lots of plot-driven interaction. There's plenty of tech-heavy action to be had, but your character's personality and history are going to be more important than his or her cybernetic pelvic action. And a small unit means more focus on you, rather than the feeling of being lost in a sea of unnamed NPCs.
The latest tech in your hands - it's not just part of the environment or the automatic defense system. You decide what to use and when. You collaborate to design the upgrades based on your own field tests. D5 uses tech inspired primarily by the preexisting GNG environment, as well as Shirow Masamune's Ghost in the Shell and the derivatives thereof.
A broad range of self-directed RP venues. For every taste in RP, there's a plot to develop. D5 deals in both short, standalone situations and long-term antagonistic drama - if you want to unearth a deep conspiracy that envelops the entire GNG, that's wonderful; but if your yen is for a quick chase scene with lots of shooting and jumping around, you're not stuck on your stakeout of Delacroix's offices. razz

Chaos Seed's sponsors have found out that some faction within the Senate has done some really nasty things, but has covered it up too well for them to expose directly, so they created Chaos Seed to gradually unravel their political shield. Chaos Seed sows disasters to achieve this utilizing media manipulation, hacking, hired actors, and good old explosives. They initially do not know about Department 5, but soon realize that some really elite special ops force is targeting them. Join Chaos Seed today. Help fight the injustice. Yeah, those D5 blokes get a sweet deal. What about me? A more character-driven RP environment is yours for the taking too. Chaos Seed is the organization working opposite of Department 5, so you also get to focus on your character's personality and history. Chaos Seed's unit is also small, meaning that you have more screen time. Most importantly, Chaos Seed is already labeled a rogue organization: desperation and the realization that whatever bad things you do won't make your situation worse make for some great character development scenarios.
High Techology and Mayhem - Chaos Seed operates with media manipulation and catastrophe generation. To do this, Chaos Seed has the latest in computers, cyberbrains, and other electronic hardware available from legitimate or black market sources to hack their way in, alter what needs altering, and then mask their escape. Of course, hacking isn't the only way to generate large amounts of confusion and panic. twisted Good ol explosives in every shape and size are available to Chaos Seed operatives. Chaos Seed also employs 'faces': men and women able to assume the voice and mannerisms of a completely different person. These people are able to deceive the general populace: anything from impersonating a cop while beating up a homeless man to infiltrating a mansion in the guise of a maid to get close to a VIP.
"Pfft. Do what you want. We're not your parents." - Make your own RP, do what your character wants to do. Yeah, eventually you'll wanna deal with that corrupt senate group that only you and your comrades know about. But you do that your own way. Wanna get involved in a long, complex RP? Sure, have at it. Just here for the fights? No problem, cause some problems, and those D5 senate lapdogs will come barking.
...the red pill. Ok, maybe not. But maybe some spoons will get bent along the way. >_>

Gaian Navy Information One of the newest branches of the GNG, this branch has plenty of opportunity for growth and advancement. The Gaian Navy works alongside the Gaian Army and the ASDF by operating the GNG's fleet of sea-bound and spaceworthy capital ships. More details as it becomes available!

Applying to the Gaian National Guard Application is as painless as we can possibly make it: RP here and express your interest! Alternatively, you can always just submit a request to join at our guild home. I tend to like the former better because it allows you to get some pretty immediate interaction, instead of just waiting by your inbox for the next 20 mins hoping for an automated message telling you you're approved. sweatdrop You guys can post whatever you'd like now, I've got all the posts I need. 3nodding
