Every have a time when something makes complete, logical sense in your head, somehow, but then when you say it outloud, it's so comically absurd, that you just can't see why it ever seemed logical.

For instance, one time, me ane my friends were discussing Shakespeare's Antony and Cleopatra for a test we had to take. The person who was "specializing" in it for us (because it was for a competition, so we had, like, 10 tests to take and split it all up) asked the question, "When Antony's wife died, what did he send Cleopatra?" We generally didn't know, so people were joking and saying things like, "A box of chocolates!"

Then, suddenly, I had an epiphany, and I just knew the answer. "His wife!" I shouted out.

Then it occured to me, why the hell would someone send his dead wife to his mistress? As it turned out, that (obviously) was not the answer. I think what I was actually thinking was that he would send his wife to Cleopatra to say, "Look, she's really dead!"

So, have any of you ever had experiences like this?

Fairly often.

Although more commonly, I say things which make perfect sense both inside and outside my head, but don't seem to make any sense inside anyone else's heads.

Both sort of happen to me. Also, I say something that was hilarious in my head but when I said it I realized how stupid it actually was.

On the box of the film Dirty at your local video rental shop, is the catchphrase:

"Violence is a language gangs understand."

The cops on the cover look like LAPD. So I asked to no one, "Don't most gangs understand Spanish too? Habla Espanol? Si?"

That got me some stares, especially when I said "Shi" (side effect of my Japanese training) instead of "Si" in the Spanish style. razz

----

Or calling Freedomland "The Last Great Samuel L. Jackson Film Before The Big One."

People invariably ask what "the big one" is. Anyone who's been tracking Internet memes of course knows what it is. :3nod

It could be (assuming you transcribed the incident correctly,) that the person you were talking to thought you were asking them if they spoke Spanish--After all, 'gangs' is plural and 'habla' is singular, so they could have interpreted that as, "You speak Spanish, right?"

My mother gets a lot of weird stares when she tries to speak Spanish, mostly because she can't... Once we were trying to get these two guys to move a heavy chest of drawers from the second story to the first of our house, and she was trying to say, "If you like it, you can have it," but she was actually saying "If this you I am pleasing, to have." (Si' este tu gusto, tener.)

I had a dream where I was convincing George Bush not to outlaw reptiles.

I demonstrated that they were very useful because they could fit into tin cans very well.

This all made sense within the dream, but everyone I've told about this dream either shakes their head or laughs...>_>

Okay, out of those here who have seen Azumanga Daioh, more specifically those who have seen the scenes between Taneko (biting cat) and Sakaki, you might appreciate the inside joke of reaching towards someone else's mouth and getting bitten. No strange looks there.

But for some reason, at Anime Club (where EVERYONE knows this joke), when Keegan and I reached towards each other's mouths and bit at the same time, we got strange looks. And several camera clicks.
