i've had some very good teachers and some very bad teachers. in middle school i had this teacher named Mr.Y. he took our jazz band and symphonic band a long way, but he was also very creepy. he told this one girl that he'd like to see her blouse blown off; he would talk way too much in concerts; and in our jazz band funny picture he was laying down (pretending to be a mummy) and we all noticed that he had a stiffy. then again, i have this great teacher in high school called Melecio. he plays all reeds, piano, and some congas; he runs all the jazz and Latin bands; he plays with Wayne Wallace, the great trombonist; and he's an awesome teacher. he knows how to control a band, he's an awesome player, and he's a tough but very nice guy who i really admire. please talk about some good and bad teachers that you've had and tell why they were that way.

In junior high, I was taught by Mr. Appleby, the man who created the entire APro learning series. He was an awesome teacher, and is also the reason why I love music so much. He was always fair, yet had an incredibly short temper (he broke a tuba stand in anger once).
In high school, I've had 4 teachers for music so far. Mr. Townend, was my band, Jazz, and choir director last year, and a pretty good trumpet player as well. This year, Mr. Mal(uszynsky) was my choir teacher this year, and not too bad at it. Mr. Braye was my combo director, and an AMAZING trumpet player. If I can get the combo's recording of Red Clay, you can hear him playing some of the weirdest ambient noises. Finally, this and last year, I have had Mr. Smith. Not only an amazing teacher and jazz director, he is also a great percussionist and pianist with a seemingly infinite knowledge of theory and bands to listen to.

Oh god...: ~All through elementary school I had this one music teacher, Mrs.B. We never sang using sheetmusic((even in 4th and 5th grade!)) and we barely did anything at all...she was nice though, even if we didn't do much ~5th grade I had this teacher for violin, Mrs.M. She was mean to any student that wasn't musically talented, and was obsessed w/ the students that could play their instruments well((>< gah me ><)). she even changed the entire lesson schedule just so the higher level students could practice together, and it was annoying as hell. one of my friends had to quit((she was our best cello player, my school was small.)) because she was too busy w/ schoolwork, sports, and the cello. she had been playing football((soccer)) and basketball all her life, and was playing on multiple teams this year. Mrs.M got pissed, and once when we were in gym, she stood in the doorway and GLARED at my friend that quit. she was mean and nasty to her. Also, she'd let the advanced students go ahead w/ the rest of the advanced students, but she'd never let me go ahead of the viola player. >< my playing was above normal for a 5th grader((i could play through the 2nd book that would be used in 6th grade, and Mrs.M said it was ALL correct)), so i just quit the violin at the end of the 5th grade.
~My favorite music teacher is my piano teacher, Maryann. She's .a.m.a.z.i.n.g. She's hilarious, a great teacher((that lets me play whatever i want to{style})), and i can go ahead considering she's a private teacher. Alot of times we spend time talking about other things beside what i'm playing((artists we both like, tv shows, vacations, ANYTHING)), and then we play. She isn't like those teachers that make you stop when your time is up((we pay for 1/2hour lessons once a week)), we go overboard alot, and she doesn't care at all. w00t, yay for maryann! ^^^ Oh, by the way~i'm going to start playing the violin next year again. my lil sister's going to play it in 5th grade, and i'm going to continue w/ my old books! >< yay...although w/ playing the piano since then i've really advanced myself. oh well, i can't wait!
