Soultrain I agree that Nascar needs to get into Canada. But, Nascar needs to get into NYC first. Every major sports series has at least one team in NYC, for Nascar to be considered major by some, it needs to race in the big apple. IT would really help the sport, especially if they built a Bristol clone there. Nascar's already considered 'major' because the top series all race in Detroit, the motorcity.

There are still some in the sports media that don't consider Nascar, or any other form of motorsport, a true sport. Many of these people are out of NYC. Having a track would legitimize Nascar in the eyes of many, not to mention bring a great deal of people to the sport. Ernest Hemingway said it best: "Auto racing, bull fighting, and mountain climbing are the only real sports ... all others are games."

People that don't think nascar's a sport don't know their a** from a hole in the ground. You're right. A while ago sombody else in this topic said about making a figure8 track in NYC! I drew this up about 2 hours ago, and it's really crude.

That would be pretty cool, I'd love to see Cup race on that. Though, I doubt it will happen. sad Realistically, I love to see another short track, or something unique. Not another 'cookie-cutter' track. gonk

The Busch series raced in Canada last year lol . F1 and Indy race in Montreal and Vancover every year. The turn the streets into a road corse.. whee it's quite cool. I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada. if they were to build a track here it would likely take up my home town, well the downtown valley part of it anyway smile
