Standard and drop D are the most common tunings If you don't have a tuner with you and you have a good ear, you can test that the E string is tuned down to D by holding down the 7th fret on the lowest string, and comparing it to the A string right above. (sorry if that's confusing, I'm not good at explaining things)

when dropping the tuning, just try to match up the sound of the lowest string with the third string from the top.

tune your E string to your D string with your ear its good not to need your tuner but why don't you get a new tuner? like one with sharps and flats and all the notes

Drop D is pretty sweet, but I would rather have a 7 string than to detune.

in my opinion, drop-d dosent acheive much, i mean, wow 1-finger bar chords, how boring can u get stare
