Remi blinked. What was an animal doctor like him doing at McDonalds? Surely there were job opportunities elsewhere for him. However, it wasn't her business so she kept quiet about it.
"Well, so far I only have one book actually published since I graduated just last year." She scratched the back of her head nervously. She always got jittery when people asked about her writing. Whenever she wrote it down, it sounded great. Explaining it to people only made it sound trite and stupid. "I have a few spare copies up in my own apartment if you want one. Well, if you like attempts at science fiction, that is."
Gavin tried to emulate the same look Mommee gave him when she wasn't going to give him something. Hamlet would just have to give up on the ice cream.
"I made pwomise. No ice cream for you!"
Though, it was more for the fact that he liked the ice cream and wanted it all for himself, rather than keeping his promise.

"I would love a copy," Tristan said with a smile as an attempt to reassure her. She seemd a little nervous about her writing and he was sure it wasn't that bad, "I've been meaning to read more fiction lately, all I have are sciencey book and they... aren't the most interesting things in the world."
He was such a dork. He thought afterwards. He read text books as a hobby.
Hamlet whimpered again but this time he got up, head low and he walked to the kitchen. He knew he had food there but anything in human bowls were always better. Oh well he'd have to settle for this.

"Well, maybe if you read mine you can tell me where my science is all wrong," she said. "It didn't sell well at all, and I think part of the reason is a lack of research."
That had been a product of procrastination and a deadline come around too soon. Getting D's in most of her science and math courses hadn't helped much either. Maybe a learned scientist would actually be helpful. So him reading text books wasn't that bad of a thing in her mind. Walking encyclopedias are wonderful for writers.
Gavin 'awwed' when Hamlet walked away. Gulping down the last of his ice cream, he left the bowl in the box and climbed out. He followed the puppy into the kitchen, where he notcied the bowls on the floor. He'd never seen that before either. Was it edible? Only one way to find out...!

"I probably won't be much help unless it has something to do with animals. Or plants, I'm pretty good with plants too, after that my knowledge dwindles."
He had finished his ice cream and, out of habit, he wanted to lick the bowl clean. Yet while inviting the Remi up to his apartment had been fine for a first meeting, licking a bowl infront of her seem just a little too weird.
Hamlet was currently quneching his thirst but had he known Gavin might have been going after his food he would have certainly done something about it. After all no ice cream was shared with him why would he share his food?

"Well, any help is still help I guess."
She, too, had finished her bowl, making a mental note to buy that flavor the next time she was at the grocery store. Rocky road. Whoever created that was a culinary genius. Now that they were both finished she had thoughts of, Now what?, but again thought it might be too rude to ask.
Gavin reached into Hamlet's food bowl and took a handful. Stuffing it into his mouth, he considered the taste. Definitely meaty. A bit strange tasting, but overall very good.
"Hamit's food is good. Yes?"

Tristan too had the'what now' feeling. He didn't know what to say, he figured they had covered pretty much all the bases. So he decided cleaning up the dishes would be a good idea right now. He picked up the bowls, including the one that was in the box.
Walking into the kitchen he noticed what Gavin and Hamlet had been up to and he tried not to laugh too hard.
"Gavin, I don't think you should be eatting that, its not meant for people," He said managing not to laugh... at least not hard.
Yes Hamlet's food was good, Trsitan usually spent more on the dog's food than he did on his own. And now there was a huge handful missing. That wasn't fair. Hamlet had to save some of his food for himself so he started, as quickly as he could, to eat what ever was left.

Curious as to what Gavin was actually eating, Remi followed Tristan to the kitchen. There he was, sitting on the floor with the tell-tale sauce and bits of meat on his cheek. Dog food. Well that was just lovely, now wasn't it.
Trying to push back feelings of nausea, she laughed a little bit before bending down to pick Gavin up again. She would have to clean his face again now.
"Do you have a paper towel or something?" she asked politely. "I just want to get this stuff off his face. Sorry he ate Hamlet's food."
She had to keep herself from chuckling through that last sentence. Gavin just looked at both of them wide-eyed. The food tasted good, why were they taking it away from him? If they didn't put him down soon, Hamlet would eat it all. And that just wouldn't be fair!

"It's okay. I don't think Hammie like it, but He'll have to suck it up," Tristan said as he went on a hunt for a paper towel.
There wasn't an in any of the cupboard. He knew he had some somewhere but thta was probably in one of his boxes and look through them would take forever. So he would substitute, he reached into one of the boxes of dishes that was open on the kitchen floor and pulled out one of the pieces of paper he had used to pack them up. "Sorry, this is the best I can do," he said handing it to her.
Great, now Hamlet had the food all to himself, no more sharing. He took a break in his eatting, seeing no need to rush at the moment and went back to his water.

"Thanks," she smiled, taking the make-shift napkin. Gavin squirmed in her arms as she tried to wipe the dog food from his face. He wanted to lick it off dangit! However, as always, the battle was lost and after a few moments he had a clean face again. Now he was sulking slightly.
After she was done, she wasn't sure what else to do. The ice cream had been finished, the dog food had been eaten, and the toddler had been wiped. She looked back toward Tristan.
"Well thanks again for the ice cream," she said. And? She had no idea.

"No problem," Tristan smiled. Feeling akward again, realizing that he still had nothing to talk about. "Uh... well it was nice to meet you and Gavin," he said after a moment. He thought about offering to shake her hand again, but again, the toddler was in the way.
What was he suppose to do now? He didn't know why he liked social interaction. He was never very good at it.

"It was nice to meet you and Hamlet too," she smiled politely. That was always her, trying to be polite. "I guess we'll head out then. Once I get something edible at my apartment I'll return the favor. Thanks again."
As she turned to walk away, Gavin peered over her shoulder. They were leaving now? Aww, and he was just starting to have fun. He'd have to sneak over and see the puppy more often now. And maybe bring Ina along. Maybe they're related and don't even know it! He got one of his arms free from Mommee's hold and waved.
"Bye Hamit!"
He couldn't remember the friendly man's name, but nevertheless still waved with a smile.
