Oqaia
Vice Captain

Oq watched as her sister hopped off her leadseat- and almost wanted to get her attention as the darker gypsy walked by Blessed Change, down the caravan as it still moved- steadily through the woods. But Valelldia was not looking anywhere but ahead- and Oq was puzzled to see that she was pulled away, herself- by a tingling in the back of her neck. Val certainly felt it too- that was why her sister had left. But... Valelldia had stopped at Mirela's wagon- while Oq felt drawn to Weathered Melody. There was something there that needed to be done... but, for the longest time, she denied that the meij was calling her- waiting, perhaps, for Valelldia to feel that tingle. Oqaia had never truly been tied in with the fortunes of Silver's family- that seemed to be only one that would call Valelldia.

So Oq hardly knew what to do- but the urge was too much for her to bear, so finally she gave Varlan the command to follow WhistleStick- and she, herself, left Blessed Change- on her way to Silver's wagon.

Aisrhan was asleep in her bed, but Khevashi was ever vigilant, perched atop the wagon as usual. Silver had been staring into the forest as they travelled, thinking of the strange occurences that had befallen them there. She was suddenly aware of a presence approaching her wagon and looked up. "Oh... Oqaia," Silver smiled. "How fare thee?"

Oqaia
"...Better than can be expected." Or worse, she thought- but didn't say as much. She was still ashamed of her cowardice, deep in the heart of the fae tricks, and, had the meij not summoned her there, she would have still been hidden away in her wagon.

"Might I come up, join you?" She was walking backwards- slowly- so as to keep up with the gentle pull of the wagontrain as it still moved.

Silver noted Oqaia's tone. Something was troubling her. Instead of prodding, however, Silver just nodded and scooted over, patting the now half-empty seat with a free hand. "Why of course."

Oqaia
"Thank you." The half-gypsy proceded to half-climb, half-drag herself onto the leadseat, making a less-than pleasant 'oof' noise as she did, having to undo her skirts from where they'd lodged themselves about her knees after she managed to take her place next to Silver.

"You know, I don't think I'll ever get the graceful part of being a gypsy." The pink-haired girl grinned at Silver, and gave her a warm look. "Don't worry- I know it always seems to be so dire when Val or I come to speak to you. But I think this time the meij just has something in store for your little Khevashi."

Oqaia looked up at the dark bird- and, as if the sight of him triggered something, the meij made itself a little more clear to the girl. She looked back to Silver.

"I saw the... fight. How is Ais doing?"

"Well, she feels horrible about what she did, really, but I can't make her understand why Vanna wouldn't... couldn't accept her apology. I honestly don't think she realizes how bad what she did was." Silver shook her head. "I swear, I don't know what I'm going to do with that girl. It worries me sometimes, you know? That I'm not a good enough mother to her... that she's leaning a bit farther into the darker side of the meij every day..." Silver sighed.

Oqaia
Silver's words- about not being a good mother- struck to Oqaia's core, and she was filled with her own shame. Hadn't she stood, huddled with the other gypsies, silent while the fae took away their children- her thoughts as far away from Varlan as possible?

"Silver, you're a wonderful mother. You've guided her and helped her for as long as I've known you- it's not your fault when her animalistic nature comes through, time and again. She's only a child- and we were all under... the dark influence of the meij, here in these woods." She looked around, but Oqaia could not forgive these trees, this glade.

"Valelldia always says that the meij never gives us anything we can't handle. And- sometimes, it will even help us." She looked up to Khevashi again. "I wasn't the only one who knows of the fight- and you're not the only one who fears what it means for her future. The meij does not want its children to fall into darkness. It wants to correct this imbalance, to bring some sort of peace and direction to her life. And it's called... for Khevashi, to be the one to start to bring his sister balance. I... I don't know how, only that the meij has said that he has the chance to save her. For now, it's a noble growth- he will find purpose in this cause, and she will benefit from his greater role in her life. But... a word of caution. One day, Khevashi will need to find his own future, his own destiny- that does not contain his sister. Or else, his own balance will suffer greatly- and he will be lost.

..Do you understand?" Oqaia asked, softly.

Silver looked down at the ground again, the grass, stones and earth passing beneath Weathered Melody's wheels as Oqaia spoke. She listened intently as the other woman went on to speak of Khevashi's present and future and how it would affect her daughter. "..Do you understand?" Silver looked up to her son and then back to Oqaia. "I... I believe so. But... is it truly time already?" Silver breathed, her eyes searching Oqaia's. Despite Oqaia's warning, which Silver had in fact tucked deep into her heart, she could not help but wonder if her son would retain his ability to fly when he changed... it was a question that had plagued her for some time. She had seen too many others lose their wings or long to fly because theirs were not gifted with flight. She did not want him to have the same sorrowful transition into childhood.

Oqaia

"Is it truly time already?" Her words were barely breathed. ...The fear and wonder in her eyes seemed palpable to Oqaia- but there was nothing more to be said.

The meij- for all its insistance, can be impatient with these mortals and their fears. Oqaia would not be allowed her words of comfort. For before Silver's eyes, a grey light would envelop her son, and deliver him:

Anew.

((( oh... wow... o_o *stares* ...lotsa wow, even! omgwow O_O
gonk heart heart heart )))

No sooner had the quiet words left her lips, than Silver saw Khevashi enveloped in a cloud of smoky, greyish light. "Khev-?" The boy suddenly found himself teetering on the roof of a wagon, where he had just been securely perched only moments before. With a small, hoarse cry, he toppled over the edge - and right into his mother's arms. "Oof!" Silver had to struggle to stay on the seat as she caught her son, who was now quite a bit heavier. "Khevashi!" Silver hugged her son tightly, but not before noting his thickly feathered arms. She beamed up at Oqaia, unable to speak just yet, her thanks quite visible in her eyes.
