as for my fighting style i like mixing tae kwondo, then streetfighting to get them on the ground, hten i use brazilian jujitsu to finish em off. lol
...
BJJ works mainly from the guard, so if you're telling me your street-fighting ends you up on the bottom, you might wanna rethink that.

Since the topic of UFC has been on here a few times I've decided to bring up the Ultimate Finale that was show on spike, If you missed that you missed out, lol, Three contracts were given out, totally deserved in my mind, other people might disagree. Dieago Was brutal in his match against kenny, forest beat stephan in a split decision, all giving 29/28 for hits, not sure if it was two against one or 3 for forest, but he won and they both got contracts, forest just got more stuff lol. and then Ken shamrock was beat in the first round against Rich something, I havn't been following his carrier, but he's beat alot of people in the first round(the rich guy) and they havn't been pushovers....lol I'm still trying to believe that Shamrock was beat in the first round and that he slipped twice...but dam is he ripped for 41...for any age at that matter.

oh man i saw that dude, it was incredible. yes diego definitely deserved the contract seeing how he has some serious force behind his punches. i was amazed how forrest just took those hits to the head from stephan, i mean how much can the man take?! but overall both fighters were amazing, stephan had very accurate shots, and forrest i mean he just survived those shots and kept coming back so u gotta give him kudos for that. about the shamrock vs. franklin fight, i thought it was very intense. i mean like they said "if u wanna become a legend u first need to beat one", and franklin controlled that fight completely. i dont know if to consider the fact that shamrock fell on his a** from his kick a factor, but either way what happened happened and franklin won. i was flipping out when franklin got on top of shamrock and started pounding him in the face, oh man the adrenaline. twisted

Don't get me wrong, franklin did a great job, but I was just so surprised that it ended in less then 5 minutes and that Shamrock AKA the worlds most dangerous man, was beat that fast, but yeah he slipped twice, the first time he recovered at a incredible speed and went into a leg takedown, which franklin got out of but dam it looked like it was close to a finish there.... Back to Forest Vs Stephan, Yeah, stephan had more accuracy but forets was much more aggressive all together, Stephan did like 5 knees compared to forests 15(ratio wise I should actually use 1:3...which is what I mean) and then forest was on top more whenever they hit the ground, throwing him up against the fencing...it was intense, a much better fight then Shamrock Vs Franklin in my mind, I mean it was a major consideration to go into a 4th round that would last 3 minutes, And I mean after they had rested and waited for the news, it was close to see if they had one more round, and if they did it would have been hell.

yeah i completely agree about ur view on the shamrock vs. franklin fight. it did end WAY too fast. and yes i see your point about forrest being overall more on top than stephan. i tactually makes more sense to me now that the judges gave forrest the points because in the UFC, KOs are great but as we seen with Forrest taking all those punches, are sometimes harder to get than a submission.

I was recently in a fight; after quite some time of not having to fight. Anyways, I came to the realization afterwards that although I escaped without a scratch I actually deviated slightly from my formal training. I know that although I research other art forms and schedule my training around their training styles, I didn't think that my formal training would be affected. Anybody have the same problem?

In my first street fight i got my a** woopped by someguy, cuz i was careless..i turned my back on him. I soon realize that in street fights the opponents just aim for ur face, rush at u, and really have no such respect for u. After that fight i started fighting more tougher then ever..it really opened my eyes. I also been in alot of street fights, i don't really care wat people say about me.

Yes, i agree with you. Most the street fights i been in or seen never end up on the ground with a submission or anything like that. Just remeber the opponents on the streets only care about hurting you, nothing else really.

ive been in several street fights but i remember one most clearly. i lived in israel for about 10 years, so this story is from when i was around 14 years old. you see in israel they have, not exactly gangs, but i guess ill call them cliques. so i was just walking with my friends down a street, we were heading for the movies, when we saw some other group of guys walking towards us. so us and them moved aside a little so we can pass, but one of their people purposely bumped into my friend and then started talking s**t right to his face. now you have to understand that im the kind of person who would back up his friends no matter what, so obviously i stepped in and tried separating them. now israeli guys are insanely stubborn, much like i am, so the other guy pushed me. being the agressive person that i am, i swung at him and broke his jaw, but no way was i done. i put him to the ground and started pounding him in the face, there was blood coming out of his nose, mouth, and eyes. out of nowhere one of his friends comes up behind me and wales me in the back with a lead pipe. i was too shocked to feel pain, so i just broke his ribs. till this day i have a scar on my back sweatdrop

Dam, your kinda lucky it wasn't the back of your head, by the sounds of it there was a huge impact to leave a scar.

I can't say I've been in alot of fights outside the ring, but a few have occured, and over the stupidest things to now that I think about it. lol, one guy kept saying he could one punch me and I'd be out, so I let him try...sort of, he swung, I leaned back and brought me knee up...it was more of a one knee for me, got him straight in the jaw...lol, I love it when you plan things out...even though I meant to kick him in the gut.

Yeah, it just going back to the basics in most street fights(for those who know martial arts that is) I first learned about spacing yourself in tkd, and so when he swung I leaned back, which since he used all of his weight he stumbled forward...into my knee, lol.

Usually a martial artist that abandons his formal training while having stressed in a situation of survival is okay. Its normal. In my training in arnis usually I'm relaxed and composed. But when I get into survival mode, I'm an animal!!!! The hell with formal training!!! In this type of situation I don't want to win!!! I want to live!!!!

In those type of situation, I rely on my killer instinct. Its what have made me survive confrontations I needed to survive because of me teaching my craft (some people call it crap though) to other people for free.

Not true at all dude, BJJ gives you more options from the bottom then most other MA's but the hierarchy of positions is one of the underlying theories of BJJ.
