I made the strawberry cake recipe! =D I think I did pretty good. ;D except that I whipped the cream too much so it turned to ultra sweet butter. =/ it left a grimy buttery texture, but i know that if i actually got the consistancy and taste correctly, it would have turned out fantastic. (I wasn't up for resizing it, so pooh~. So here's the link to see the cake WAAY close up. ;3 ) http://i8.tinypic.com/24gq04i.jpg

You made a cute cake, even though you had some mistakes, looks good. 3nodding The cakes by Elle magazine have fondant on it, I think it has black and white. You can make fondant, I just can't remember how, it's like thick slabs of sugar that you mold to cover cake.
Edited 8/20/06- I found out again that fondant consists of sugar, water, and corn syrup.

those treats looks darling! <33
you could also use frosting and to get a smooth look, use a blowdryer to melt the frosting a little. I haven't tried it but it seems like it would work. biggrin

Ellyn- A little off topic, but the plate under your cake is the same kind I have in my kitchen... >__>;
Anyways, I'd love to have a tea party for my birthday. That would be SO awesome. My friends might have to have root beer and orange soda in teacups if they don't like tea, but whatever.
I think I'd decorate my cake with pretty lacey designs and hearts. <3 I'd get my cooking-and-sewing-wise buddy Jill to help me even more than usual... xD~
