I want to study fish in College but I'm not sure what to look up when searching for colleges

Marine biology seems more about ocean fish and I"m a freshwater guy
Ichthyology is hard to find
Zoology? dont know much about it but it was recomended on another site

You can find freshwater marine biology programs, if you look hard enough.

My major, as of the next time I get over to school to change it (again gonk ), is marine zoology.

A form of zoology is probably a better way to go if you want to work with fish. Marine biologists (both the salt and freshwater variety) tend to be more concerned with the tiny things, like pond scum and algae, on a professional basis.

In what way do you want to work with fish? You said you are more into freshwater right?
Are you looking to raise them more on a massive level?
Or to sample them and check native lakes and streams?
There are quite a few different paths you can take while studying fish in college.

I think sampling native lakes would get booring, my mom agreed to fund my own businuss when I grow up so I guess I'm leaning more towards massive breeding and care for fish. Although i've heard petstores dont make alot of money -tear-

Pet stores can make oddles of money, but if you are the type or person who will care for all the fish in the store you wont make much as you care more adn will take better care of the fish.
I went to school for two years to a Aquaculture program. I am actually employed by teh state of Virginia to help raise, oh lets say about 500,000 trout every year to stock out.
If your looking to do more massive breeding for pet store stock and wholesale to private buyers adn sellers Im not sure which path I would take, probably some biology

There's apparently a colladge in ohio (where I live) that teaches caring for fish and mass breeding. I'm just trying to make sure I dont waste my time on a career that wont get me a job.

like caring for and raising fish in aquariums, or caring and raising them in raceways and ponds? Are you looking to go to college for the aquarium fish, or more wild and local fish is what I guess Im trying to ask lol.
