Ok so most of the time it means that its a double letter but what is the other meaning? gomenasai. I'm just not sure what you mean. by makes words like kyo, sho ,cho

You should probably look into studying the Japanese alphabet. If you do, you'll notice that besides the 50-ish basic characters (52? 57? I can never remember gonk ), there are also some hybrid characters. As Aiko mentioned, they're combinations of two basic characters. For example, き (ki) + や (ya) = きゃ (kya). Kya is pronounced differently from kiya (one syllable instead of two), and it gets its own spelling.
I'd really encourage you to at least learn the Japanese alphabet before you start trying to read full sentences out of manga. rofl
