I didn't like it at first but out of respect for the band i don't skip it every time it comes up. It's not a bad song.

Okay...

I have no favor for Mama Said. At all. Not because it's an acoustic song. Because it's just not Metallica. Metallica is heavy metal, thrash metal, and speed metal last time I checked. Sure they have their slower songs and acoustic songs, but all of those were still metal in a sense. This song? No. It's country rock. Like Bon Jovi nowadays.

A soft Metallica song has to be like My Friend of Misery, Fade to Black, and Welcome Home (Sanitarium). Those were soft by Metallica standards, slowed down, but still stayed metal. Mama Said is not like that. It's bluesy, country, and doesn't seem Metallica at all. As a fan, I accept their attempt but they should forever stay away for that approach.

i think if youre a hardcore metallica fan you should accept anything metallica does instead of shun something they come out with. its all about metallica expressing themselves isnt it? maybe theres a reason they made it country-ish.

im a die hard mettallica fan but the first tiem i heard it was 2 nights ago on the radio, and indeed it is good

i dont think they should do what we want to do, if you were in a band youd want to express yourself in your own way. and as a musician its really fun to expand your musical ability by playing other types of music. i play a lot of heavy metal stuff but once in a while ill do a bluesy solo. but im not saying youre wrong for what you think. i understand that its weird to hear something different from them. but a lot of bands like to change up their sound or style.
