Is it just me or is the play always better than the movie? Even Amadeus, the play was more dramatic although the sites of Vienna in the movie real or otherwise were fantastic.

Edit: I mean the movie version of a play as opposed to the recent trend of musicals of movies. That's different.

I'm one who likes simplicity. Therefore, I tend to agree that the play form of somthing is generally better than the movie. This is especially true of Shakespeare, as one cannot presume to re-do the works of that kind of genus, unless they themselves have a comprable mind (which is very, very rare).

I agree, especially about Shakespeare. I am not looking forward to Courtney Love being Lady Macbeth.

Shakespeare just...needs a live performance. The language doesn't have the same impact in a movie for some reason. *shrug*

*gasp* Courtney Love?! eek

the only worse thing than Courtney Love as Lady Macbeth would be either Britney spears or Paris Hilton as Juliet. NO they could be playing Ophelia. Gratefully, I'm only kidding with this.

However, I'm not kidding. I saw a small blurb in Rolling Stone a year or two ago saying that they were doing a re-make of Macbeth with Courtney Love as Lady Macbeth. I am quite disturbed.

Also, I think I saw something about it on The Osbournes (Hey, my sister was watching it, I only chose to watch it with her instead of doing homework) where she herself talked about it for 2 seconds before getting drunk and exposing herself in front of the son.

Oh, what has this world come to. I suppose that worse things have been done in the name of theatre... but still.
