Biography

Tri-Edge is a mysterious Player Killer who appears in both the .hack//Roots anime series and the .hack//G.U. games. While it is unknown whether he is a player character or an NPC, rumours abound on the in-game BBS that players killed by Tri-Edge are never able to return to the game again - some have speculated that he kills through Data Drain. Shino's comatose state is an example of the effects of Tri-Edge's Data Drain.

Named after the three edges on each of his weapons, Tri-Edge is a Twin Blade-type character who vaguely resembles a corrupted version of Kite, the original protagonist from the first four .hack games, who played in the original The World.

Tri-edge is known for 3 things. He carries two, triple-edged twin blades, he's surrounded by azure flames when he appears, and (what he is best know for) characters that he has PKed can never returned to The World. Also, every time he appears he come in a form of light.

In the new TAF trailer, Tri-Edge is seen in a damaged state, and uses Drain Heart to drain the data from the area he is in to heal himself. Furthermore, all evidence points to Tri-Edge being an AIDA (Artificially Intelligent Data Anomaly.)

After Haseo is Data Drained and finds himself in the Serpent of Knowledge (a protected system area,) Pai and Yata, two system administrators, state that Tri-Edge's real name is "Kite of the Azure Flame." This does not necessarily mean that Tri-Edge is the original Kite, but that is what the system admins refer to him as. They also indirectly refer to Tri-Edge as an AIDA.

In the game, when Tri-Edge heals himself after being defeated, he uses the Data Drain to not only recover itself, but to also give him power to transform into an Avatar known as "Azure Flame God".

Tri-edge first appears in episode 9 of .hack//Roots, just before Ovan and the Twilight Brigade open the supposed path to the Key of the Twilight.

Some have suggested that Tri-Edge is in fact a new manifestation of Cubia, the "other side" of the Bracelet. No hard evidence thus far has appeared to support this theory, however.

Tri-Edge has an Avatar known as "Azure Flame God" an Avatar which seems to be a Mechanoid version of Kite broken apart, the only thing connecting them together, are the Azure Flames.

In the latest .hack Volume 2 scans, there is a picture of Haseo in his armor, with a Corrupted Balmung, and Orca. There is a rumor that this is possibly Tri-Edge, bringing another reason to the word "Tri" in his name.

Due to the Manga showing Tri-Edge data draining Orca and Balmung it has become a rumor that his DD is the way Tri-Edge transports it's data throughout The World.

It's refearing to legend of the twilight bracelet where the tri-edge first apperes, and he fights balmung and orca, but it only show balmung being data drained but it gives the impression that orca was data drained by him as well.

Also this sets up for volume two in which Balmung and Orca appere in the world R:2 as tri-edges
