So I took a very, very long break from Gaia. I am so lost! crying
Anyway, I am glad to see I am still a member, so here are a few recent things.

User Image
01. I have never really done an all out portrait in Photoshop, much less practiced coloring skin with my tablet. confused This was an experiment, & final project for Studio Art. Note: Someone mentioned that the blush looked too severe, though I intended it to look that way. Just thought I'd throw that in there...

User Image
02. My very first vector, of a friend of mine. Doing this in Photoshop was very tedious. Egh.

More watercolors & what not some other time!
Sheesh, my member profile in the Art f** post is soooo outdated. Talking about 3 years ago.

I'm getting mixed vibes about the first one. The face looks really great but the different kinds of shading kinda puts me off. The hair is completely flat, no shading... and then the face has a mixture of very smooth shading and more pencilly-like shading (around the eyes and neck). I think it might've looked nicer if you stuck to one shading look.

I like the second one. XD I have absolutely no experience in vectors, but it looks pretty good to me. The text is effective and the colour choice is pretty good. I'm a bit iffy about that grey background... it kinda de-emphasizes the rest of the colours.

I like the first one! I like the effect of computer colors over pencil shading. The only thing that bothers me is that her lips aren't shaded or anything and look really flat compared to the rest of the picture. And I think her cheek/chin needs to come out more on the viewer's left side.

The expression in the second one is great.

Thanks for your crit. I also should have mentioned that I like combining soft skin shading//flat hair. I don't like to soft color an entire image. :/

I kind of disagree with the above comments.

I love the shading difference between the hair and the face. I love how the hair is flat and cartoony, whereas the face is very realistically shaded. It looks like you've done that intentionally, and it was meant as your style.
I like it. heart
I do agree, though, that the lips aren't quite working. Since they're part of the face, I think you should have gone ahead and shaded them in pencil, too. To give the whole face that soft look.

edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention -- what's up with her shoulders? They've got no shape to them, and it looks kind of like her neck is molding into them. .____. The shoulders definitely need some fixing, methinks.

As for the second one, I don't really have any comments.

Hehe. I got lazy after shading droopy eyelids & hair fussing.
I agree. sweatdrop
I won't go back & fix it now, though. I'm much too lazy!

I'll remember for future reference. :]

I like the first one, the different textures and colors give it a nice contrast.

BTW: Cameron Diaz?

Second one is good too, but I am a big fan of shadings.

You know, after it was done, I kind of thought that too!
Though, I had found a reference of Christina Ricci for the droopy eyes & makeup, but I lost the resemblance later & finished it anyway! ;]

Thank youuuu
