---The Three Meet
Namir slunk along through the tall grass, careful of each step and wary of every sound. It'd been a while since he'd seen any others. Colby'd been the first and last and, personally, he wasn't sure he was quite ready for anymore interaction just yet.
Sucking in the fresh, plant-fumed air, he sighed. Still, he wondered why he stayed in this place.
The pack didn't need him. No one really needed him. He remembered he was barely able to talk back to Colby when the dark wolf had threatened his Lowlands kin. Would he actually be able to stand up and defend them? Defend anyone, anything?
Truthfully, he was just happy he hadn't found a reason to test that.
He hopped over a hole in the path, but found himself peering down it soon after. Just what was a random hole doing in the middle of the field? The teen wolf found himself thinking someone could get hurt.
Not that he could do anything about it.
Whining slightly, he tried to dig some dirt into the hole, but found he was merely making a hole where he was taking the dirt from. Not only that, but there was a sound. A littler whimper?
Namir strained to hear. What was that? Ears twitched as he leaned further, almost sticking his head into the hole and actually realizing how deep it was. He couldn't see the bottom.
And the little whimpering continued, echoing up.
"Don't worry!" Namir called, voice quivering ever so slightly. It wasn't as if he could be sure whatever was down there was friendly.
"Help me outta here!" A voice called back. The soft voice of a pup. The elder wolf was sweating now. What was he supposed to do?
"I can't... I can't see the bottom..." He responded, down-trodden. Now he almost regretted stopping to try and fill in the hole. The trapped pup, however, was not so quick to give up.
"See my paw?" She asked, and sure enough, as soon as the words echoed up, a red paw with a white tribal tattoo was visible. When a responce wasn't granted, the paw wiggled. "See it?"
"Y-Yeah." Namir finally answered.
"Good!" And soon, scrambling could be heard. It wasn't long before Namir had to pull his head from the hole to make way.
The female pup scratched at the dirt walls, pulling herself up quite a bit. However, she'd tried getting out herself a few times, only to fail.
"Help!" She barked, voice strained with effort. The teen hesitated, but soon bent to help. Grabbing her scruff in his maw, he tugged. And with her attempts to climb and his pulling, the two were soon tumbling away from the hole-prison.
Once they'd finally landed, Namir sighed. What a day, when he'd merely gone out for a walk.
"Are you okay?" He questioned cautiously as he slowly took a few steps away once they'd become untangled.
"Fine," she answered with a nod. Though, as she did so, she noticed his hesitation and slight... was it fear? She was littler than he! He shouldn't be afraid!
"That's good," he stuttered over his words, looking for the right way to get out of there without being too rude. He couldn't really think of any. "Uh. Bye then." Was the best he could come up with and began to walk away.
The pup's brows furrowed. She'd been alone in life for a long time. She didn't want to be alone again.
"Wait! I'm Avani. What's your name?" She asked quickly, and rather loudly, hoping it would make him stay.
"Namir," he answered, stopping and just barely peeking back behind himself.
"Nice to meet you, but please don't go yet, big brother!" She looked innocent, her dark green eyes glimmering with some relfection not unlike his own light greens.
"'Big brother?'" He questioned, looking rather surprised.
"Yeah. I don't wanna be alone anymore." Avani looked to the ground, her eyes slightly wet, as if any moment she would cry. "You saved me, so I thought maybe..."
And it was then that Namir realized. Maybe he couldn't protect all of his kin on his own. So? That was a big job for a single wolf. Still, he was older than she was, it was obvious, so maybe he could protect her? One bigger wolf protecting one smaller wolf? Maybe.
"I... Uh..." he stammered, but it was obvious to even a casual observer that he wasn't going anywhere now. Avani seemed excited, Namir was still a bit concerned, but soon the moment was broken by a rather dry comment.
"Aw, what'a cute scene, eh?"
From out of the grass came a dark brown wolf with black and gray markings, her bright green eyes shimmering playfully.
"Oi, been watch'n ya, eh? Cute, cute scene, eh? I'n guess tha' makes meh yer big sist'n, eh?" The teen female said with a rather strange accent. And Namir couldn't help but notice how each time she spoke, it was always a question, just because of the 'eh.'
Of course, Avani seemed rather pleased. Two siblings all in one day! Namir, however, seemed upset with this rather unsual turn of events. A walk! It'd just been a walk!
"But I guess I'n yer lil' sist'n, eh?" She asked, turning to the only male present. "Yer look'n old'r than meh, eh?"
And that was that. There really wasn't anything Namir could do to stop it. Suddenly he had two sisters. Of course, his whole 'one wolf protecting one wolf' was out the window now. He sighed. What a walk.
