"Forteh-one" Alec answered matter-of-factly, leaning back to stretch his arms. The woody bits on his joints were feeling a little stiff, so the teen leaned over and scooped some water into his palm to wet his elbows a bit. "Righ' below Nita. Near Kav', y'know 'em?"

Only now Cody noticed Alec's dual texture, when he rubbed the elbows
"Is that... wood???"

"Kav's a girleh next door, she's go'a big long neck n' stoof." Alec was about to ellaborate on Kaveri's outstanding features from what he remembered of their last meeting, when Cody interrupted with a sudden outburst about his odd 'skin'
"A' d'neh." He mumbled and shook his head, rubbing at one of his elbows like the material was just beginning to bother him at that time. "A' go' i' on me knees too..." The teen shrugged it off, trying to seem layed-back as usual. "Prob'leh joost some si' effect, o' somethin."

Great. Not only were people like Nita passively convincing him day-by-day to gather the guts to talk to the staff, now he had a little kid scaring the crap out of him for the same cause. "Ye, a' guess ye righ'." He mumbled a little incoherently, scratching at the back of his neck in a nervous habit. It was getting late.
"Wan' me t'walk ye back?"

Alec snickered, getting up from his spot to wait for Cody to follow. The air was growing cool and by the way he was acting, he guessed the temperaure was getting to the much-smaller youngster. He'd realize later that the trek to Cody's duplex was actually out of his way but he didn't really mind. What else did he have to do in the meantime?
