I'm considering putting an oscar in my 30 gallon but i'm worried that its too small even though I have a book that says its okay stressed

It can live in 30 gallons with no other fish or decorations but that would be like expecting one of us to live our whole lives in a 3' x 3' room. it makes it hard to turn around and or swim and wil likely be over aggressive and hurt itself by jumping out, or attacking the glass everytime something in the room moves. Which can dislocate thier jaw. We kept our pair in a thirty gallon until they were about 6" and 6 months old then bought them a 135 gallon to live out thier life in.
