When you're using a layer mask (I'm assuming) don't use a brush with soft edges. If you look at people, you'll see that we all have very hard edges to us, lol, so you don't want to create something that isn't there.
If you get what I mean...

Can I have a link to the compition...unless they're having it in real life. If they're as unprofessional as you say. I'll smear there faces into the floor with a toothpick.

The Paris Hilton or the iceskater, Because those are the only one's where you did anything other than text and a rectangle to the image...And if your actually competing on render blending...omg. I'm pro. You NEVER use a layer mask. You outline it quickly with the lasso and go to Select>Feather and type in like, 8-20 pixels, depending on how precise your outline is.
