the South Park episode about scientology is fantastic.
It's not even a cult, it's just a scam.
Infact, it's the perfect representation of eschatology / alienation - people so desparate to be told that they're happy, they'll pay money.

it is the pinnicle of capitilist religion and i mean the guy was a sci fi author and scientology sure sounds like a sci fi story to me ( i have read alot) germans call it a market venture just a little fact

When I first heard of Scientology, my first impression was that it had to just be another version of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. That went away when I started reading about them coming around here to "convert" people.
It's just a scam. That they have so many "secret" levels to it, is just more evidence of something fishy going on.

ooooh, noone caes about the raelians? they're even more pathetic, the were made by a sports journalist who went hiking in france... they are freaky!(they ripped off stargate damnit!)
but all i will paraphrase marx for this: religious suffering is an expression of real suffering, just hidden in illusory garb. do do away with the illusions, one needs to do away with the situation that needs illusions.

The christian churchs are just being reactionary, as usual. They think that with this they're progressive. But christianity hasn't been progressive since Constatine (Rome not Movie).

ok, let us see. budhism, like most religions, is a bureaucratic organisation in which we have priests and monks living in their temples in contemplation and prayer. just like in islam, christianity, judaeism, shintoism, you know, all of them, now these priest do nothing, they serve no purpose except to pass no false ideology, but they get fed donnt they, how? from the charity of the peasants, and by taxing the peasants. thats not very progresive is it? they are a relic of feudalism that must be done away with. secondly, it is idealist. put simply, idealism is bullshit, why? here, i explain it. now i had an argument with blind guardian, a 'buddhist communist', it can be found in the 'philosophicaly speaking' thread, on page two, if you wish to carry it further, please respond, either here, in that thread, pm, or a new thread.

- To have to pay to get to the secret levles.
- The founder is quoted as saying "Religion is where the money is."
- The ultimate secret level is little more then "We came from Aleins."
