'It's been a while... since you were in here last. Why can't you seem to stay out of a hospital room?' Iruka-sensei thought as he tended to Kakashi.
"Hey, Iru-chan..."
"What?"
"Let's do it."
Iruka blushed furiously and pinched Kakashi's shoulder.
"Tetete! That's painful!"
"Well, quit being such an ecchi. You can't even move!"
There was silence for a moment. Iruka kept his hand over Kakashi's shoulder as he stared out the window at a greyness storm starting to form in the distance.
"You're... not still upset, are you?"
Iruka looked back at Kakashi.
"Maybe a little bit.... I mean, Gai-kun had you on his back!"
"Yeah, but he's hot for Lee, so you don't have to worry... But... I meant about Naruto..."
Iruka's eyes glazed over a little bit as he thought about his sweet little Naruto trying to get at the Akatsuki and Orochimaru.
"They're still just kids... and he's going out to fight with the Akatsuki and one of the Sannin... He's like my son, or like a little brother... And I don't want to see him die without accomplishing his dreams... He'd be willing to go so far to help out Sasuke, too."
"Yeah. He's hot for Sasuke."
Iruka batted Kakashi playfully. "He's too young to be hot for anyone!"
Kakashi laughed and reached up behind Iruka's head, pulling out the band that kept up his dark-brown hair. He ran his long calloused fingers through the silky locks, eliciting a quick breath from Iruka.
"He'll come back," the silver-haired Jounin declared as he massaged at Iruka's scalp. "He can't stay away from free ramen."
Iruka sighed "Yeah," and leaned in to kiss Kakashi. The material around his mouth was in the way, though, so he pulled it down and continued.
Just then, Tsunade walked in to check up on her patient.
Iruka and Kakashi stared at her with wide eyes.
Tsunade just laughed. "Hey! I caught Shikamaru and Choji doing the exact same thing!" she quipped, and walked back out. "So, I guess… I'll leave you guys alone for a little while~"
They were still motionless a few seconds after she'd shut the door and walked down the hallway.
"Well, it could have been worse, Iru-chan. I mean, we could've been naked."
Iruka plopped down on Kakashi, who responded to such with a quick breath out.
"You're heavy..."
"You're small..."
"I am not... brat..."
"Brat? I'm almost the same age as you..."
"..."

The silence was broken only by a gentle shaaa of rain falling on the village.
"Please... don't strain yourself so much any more... Kakashi..."
Kakashi lifted his head up to look at Iruka who had pulled his hands up near his face and his head turned so that his nose was pressed into Kakashi's chest.
"I don’t think I could take it…. don’t think my heart could take it if everyone dear to me went away...."
Kakashi caressed Iruka’s hair and stared at the back of his head with soft eyes.
“My parents were enough… I don’t want to lose everything important to me…”
Kakashi continued petting the Jounin, but didn’t say a word, pondering what words he should respond with.
“It’s raining pretty hard…,” he started out. “Wasn’t there supposed to be some sort of big market day going on?”
Iruka nodded against the silver-haired nin’s chest silently.
“Well, didn’t you want to go? You are the wife.”
Iruka looked up at Kakashi playfully.
“But I don’t wanna be the wife! Besides, you’re the one who wore the dress.”
“That was one time!” Kakashi responded in mock-anger, glad to have gotten the other to smile. But the smile soon faded into one with sad eyes.
Kakashi just patted him again. “Don’t worry. I won’t leave you alone. Sure, I may be gone for a long time sometimes, but I will always come back.”
“Do you promise me?”
Kakashi nodded, desperate to get that look off of Iruka’s face.
“Of course!” he declared. “I never go back on my word! It’s my ninja way!”
The brown-haired nin chuckled a bit. “You’re reverting to Naruto!” he said.
Kakashi laughed a little too, but more happy about Iruka’s spirits lifting a little than at his own meager attempt at a joke.
“I would worry more about Sai getting Naruto than Sasuke, though. I hear that kid’s a nutcase; always obsessed with penises…”
Iruka laughed again, though more outright this time.
“Oh, great! A pocket gay version of Jiraiya!”
“Poke-perve!” Kakashi added in.
“Eeh, that’s almost too catchy!” Iruka laughed. He smiled sweetly and kissed Kakashi’s chest chastely. “Sorry I have to go, but there’s a lesson plan I’ve yet to write up. I’ll come see you again soon, and I’ll bring you some more to eat, okay?”
Kakashi nodded happily. “So long as you come back to me,” he said with a smile equally sweet.
Iruka looked a bit sad again, but was quickly rushed over with a sentimental happiness. He closed his eyes and kissed Kakashi softly on the lips, put his hair back up, and then he walked out the door, shutting it quietly behind himself.
Kakashi smiled gently as he pulled his material back over his face. He stared longingly at the apple peels that were left over and forgotten on a little plate with a shining silver knife on a small table to his right. Switching his gaze up a little ways, he looked out the window to the rainy city.
Iru-chan’s out there…. I hope he has an umbrella, or he’ll catch a cold… oh, but then he can sit around here with me…
Slowly, Kakashi felt his eye lids getting heavy. With a soft sigh, he closed his eyes; gently lulled to sleep by the white shaaa of rain and thoughts of his beloved Iruka…
