I am not sure that the guy tried to bring his workers BACK to life. I think he just tried to use their soul or body for something.

Tucker (Sewing Life Alchemist) tried making a body first and THEN attach a soul. So he never really got to the soul part.

The Video Game has nothing to do with the anime.

And I think that not all the alchemist/scientists knew how to do the transmutation correctly enough to screw it up.

1. I think that the guy was trying to use the souls not bring the workers back to life. Not sure because I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I know that it follows the laws.
2. He was trying to connect a soul to a chimera. So it kinda works around the whole issue.
3. The games have are kinda unrelated towards the FMA story line.

1. yes but the only way the gate takes from you is if you do a human transmutation.In this case the price was his whole body rather then a limb
