 everything was red. The newly risen sun cast a rosy glow over the pridelands as it rose higher from the hills starting yet another day. Unlike the always moving sun, Kia was tired. Her eyelids drooped to block out the early daytime rays of the fire in the sky as her jaws parted in a wide and lazy yawn.
As far as Kia was concerned, it should have still been night. Quite bleary from a lack of sleep she strode lazily over to a large watering hole nearby, it's mirror-like surface reflecting every color depicted in the sky. Kia sloshed her way into the water, the coolness of it began to wash away the fog that sleep had cast over the clay-toned female form

 To go along with the rest of red the growing juve continued to make his wa through the pridelands. He had an aunt of sorts who lived here and he was yet to meet her.
He had woken early, as he had ever since he had left his mother. He did miss his mother and would go find her again some day. For now though he was happy jumping here and there and generally having fun!
The area was mostly empty at this time, lions waking and things, Nogea found this time best. He could do what he wanted and hunt the waking animals, cruel but necessary.

The adolescant splashed about the crystal waters for a short time, flinging tiny droplets of icy water into the air as she dove under the water and ressurfaced again and again. A childish smirk was drawn across her face as she paddled around the water, slowing only when she felt the need to turn belly up and float in that manner on the surface of the water.
When she was finally still she listened, smiling as the silence of morning filled the cavities in her keen ears. Her enjoyment continued until the pattering of footsteps took the place of the silence that she so enjoyed. Although the bulk of the grogginess had been lifted from her swim, her eyes were still covered with a film that sleep had put there.
Not knowing who was approaching she remained silent, allowing the most of her to sink under the water's surface. The only thing that remained visible to one's sight were a large pair of ears and two glittering green eyes filled with curiousity. Where was the other?

Nogea made his way to the water all right. His nose taking in all the morning smells though really he could only smell water and dried blood from his breakfast.
As he reached the water he lapped up the water, his green eyes watching the green eyes in the water amused slightly. As he finished drinking he sat up, his tail wrapped around his body.
"Like the water?" He smiled a little. He was younger then her and unknowingly related through adoption in several ways but that wasn't really an important detail.

Kia blinked, saying nothing at first. In fact there was scarcely any reaction to what he had said at first except for the gradual raising of a single brow as the female scanned over the juvenile before her. He seemed a bit smaller than her and his build was obviously that of a male after taking note that what was before her was not a hyena she treaded water a bit so the rest of her face was showing and nodded. Yes, she liked the water very much. A goofy grin was spread over her lips that confirmed this.
She paddled over to where the red fellow was, in water just deep enough that her feet didnt touch the bottom "I'm Kia" she said "who are you?"

He watched her curiously, he wasn't keen on water, it was for drinking and not much else. He was a typical feline, water not allowed!
"I am Nogea, its nice to meet you Kia." He smiled and bowed his head to her. It had been a while since he had seen a lioness so naturally coloured.

She smiled and attempted a nod, but found it difficult to do so while treading water. Wanting to be back on dry land she swam slowly towards shore until her feet scraped the bottom of the watering hole and from there she propeled herself forward by the push of her feet against the mud under the water.
Her fur clung to her slender frame as she stepped from the water, it matted and drooped against her face and partially over her eyes even. That same goofy smile still written on her face, the female stood next to Nogea before bracing herself and violently shaking her body in twists from side to side, sending spatters of water in many random directions. Her fur slightly less water ridden, Kia angled her lips to blow a tuft of fur away from her eyes with a puff of breath before looking down at the slightly smaller Nogea
"A pleasure to meet you as well Nogea" she said

He watched her swim to the edge, if he had any interest in the female or females in general he may have liked the sight of her getting out the water but he was young and his mind elsewhere.
He smiled at her as she spoke and he nodded to her again, he found that it was poliet to do a head bow!
"Do you live 'round here?"

"It sure feels like I live around here" she stated dramatically while rolling her green eyes skywards "Why... I've been here since... since I was as big as you actually" she chuckled slightly at the recollection. Nogea seemed to be not a day younger than she was since Kia herself had first set foot into the pridelands
She reclined to a more comfortable sitting position before gazing off over the horizon as if she were trying to capture her memories in the clouds, she smiled as she thought
"The rolling hills, the grassy turf, the sunsets, the endless herds of game.." she smiled dreamily as her mind continued to float farther from the present. Truthfully, these things were little different than what she saw on all the other adventures from her youth and she could honestly find no reason that kept her in the pridelands except for maybe one....
"My heart just hasn't permitted me to leave" and that was the only reason she ever could reason with
"Do you live here Nogea?" she copied the same question asked to her for conversation's sake

He shook his head, "I don't live anywhere as such, I am trying to find somewhere that will be good, calm somewhere peaceful I suppose you can say." He was rambling but then he was sure that came from his mother as well.
He looked to the sky briefly, "My aunt, who isn't really my aunt is here somewhere. Her name is Bakhti. I would have liked to pay her a visit, or maybe stay around for a while." He thought about it a bit longer then smiled, "Kia, will you be my guide around these lands, you are larger then me and know them better so it would make sense if you could show me around? It would be most helpful!" He spoke in a polite manner he wasn't one to want to upset anyone or to ever upset anyone. He was calm, caring and like his mother even spoke to food!

She blinked, a smirk crossing her features. She? Show Nogea around? It was a brilliant idea! and oh what fun it would be to do so. Kia's heart started beating a little faster, Nogea must not have seen everything the Pridelands had to offer. It would be like a little adventure for him. She couldn't wait to begin
Her emerald eyes dashed about the horizon from east to west, a wide and cheerful smile across her features. There was so much to see!
"Perhaps, Nogea, once you see the goodness and calmness of the pridelands you would be much obliged to stay here" she nodded a few times as if she was in agreement with herself.
"Now," she said simply as she sighed sharply and scanned the area once more with her large sparkling eyes. "Where shall we begin?" her eyebrows rose as her gaze met the water nearby.
"Oh yes, I nearly forgot.... this is a watering hole" she nodded once, grinning proudly. She was doing a splendid job already

He listened and chuckled, he wasn't one to expect ever settling in a pride but who knows what could or could not happen.
He smiled as she spoke and chuckled as she poke the obvious, he could tell that this was a water hole but he let her go on anyway not saying anything. He was curious and she looked as if she was having fun!

She grinned, flecks of pinkish rays bounced off droplets of water that had collected on Kia's coat from her morning swim, though her drying fur had begun to stand on end from its drying and made Kia look rather much like a big shaggy dog.
She blinked looking back at Nogea. "Well sir, shall we move on?" Not waiting for a response Kia nodded, grinned, then began to prance away from the watering hole where thier meeting began. She pondered where she should take the boy next, Kia hadn't lived here all her life, but had explored nearly every ounce of the pridelands. Only every once in a long while did Kia find herself in unknown territory.
She could show Nogea places where the herds of prey stopped to graze, she could point out large grassy hills enveloped in beauty, she could bring him to a cave near the borders where she spent her first night in the pridelands, but none of these things seemed worthy of adventuring to in her mind. She had seen them all before. There was only one place that she hadn't seen, though ironically she had known exactly where it was for a rather long time now.
"Come on Nogea!" she hollered over her shoulder to the red male behind "I'm gonna show you pride rock!"

He couldn't help ut laugh and ran after her orange body. He caught her up and trotted along side her. "You lived here for a long time then Kia? My mother came here, has a sister of sorts. A golden lioness who adopts all sorts of lions as her children and siblings!" He smiled at the tale, he had never met the lioness but ad no doubt in her existance.

she slowed her pace down to a brisk walk after a bit, no use running since the day was still young. She smiled contentedly as Nogea spoke to her
"I guess I have lived here for quite some time... ever since I was your age at least" she lifted a paw to Nogea's head and ruffled the fur on top of it, chuckling. "What's this about a golden lion?" his words describing the lady interrupted her thoughts on the pridelands for a moment. She knew that golden could describe a yellowness in hue, but somehow her description prompted a glittering gold in Kia's mind. Kindness always seemed to sparkle in the mind of the clay-toned female. "Is she a goddess? She sounds rather friendly" Kia smiled at the thought of endless numbers of adopted family members, it must be so nice to have so much company.
Her smile grew warmer as she thought of this, but on the inside she felt slight pangs of remorse. Where was her mother now? How was her brother doing? She had scarcely seen the likes of either since she was just a cub. If they weren't moving then Kia was and no matter how little they were in her young life she missed them all the same, and for the first time in Kia's life... she felt homesick.
