Hiya, I recently returned from a Youth trip called Beach Fest in Destin, FL. It was a great time for me to get closer to God and to hear what he has to say to me. The entire time I was there it seemed like I could do anything and it was awesome, because God freed from some of the addictions I have been battleing for so many years.
But, when I returned home, it seemed like the urge to do these things just kept getting stronger. I resisted and prayed, asking for Jesus' help, and I tried other things to distract me, but the temptation keeps getting stronger and harder to resist.
What do I do??? It's beginning to get to me and sometimes I can't sleep at night.
Please, if you have any advice, I would apreciate it.
Thanks.

I myself have been to church youth trips and when I get back home its like the old way of life I had wants to come back and rule over me. The best thing I think that you can do is to keep being faithful to the Lord and perhaps spend your time reading Scripture. Scripture helps to encourage and motivate the Christian walk. And you should also try to talk with any Christian figures in a weekly youth group or at Church. Whenever I feel I have something on my chest I need to let someone trustworthy and understandable know what you are going through.

I would say the maybe reason for this is because you have been with so many others like this and the holy spirit is just so big there that there is no way that you'd even think about these things. Just pray and when it seems that you think you're about to do something that you don't want to do, step away from it and read the bible or pray.

I agree with literral13. I've had that feeling when I come home from a week at Bible camp. (I just had this long thing typed out, but Im trying to sum it up now.) The reason might be the two different environments. If you have anything that would be sinful (unknowing of it or not), like unbelieving friends or a book of some kind or anything at home that may not be truly right with God, then it may be causing it. On your trip you were (im guessing) with mainly Christians, and doing things that praised (maybe helping others out by building houses or handing out food or something, I dont know). This may be a turning point for you, and thats a very encouraging thought! The Lord may be telling you that there are some things that you need to get rid of in your life in order to have a meaningful relationship with Him. I know that whenever its the last day or two of camp I start wishing that it was another week- or even month longer! I just cant get enough of Him! mrgreen When we do things that praise God, we want to do more of it- thats the Holy Spirit working in you. The great thing about the Holy Spirit is that it gives us motivation and inspiration to do things for our Lord. In the mean time, keep looking to God and reading His Word.
Im glad you had such a good time on your trip! 3nodding
