OKAY SO. ... =D
I'll be going to Japan in about six weeks (in August) to stay with a friend of mine who was the Japanese exchange student this year at my high school. She lives in Chiba, which is near Tokyo. I'm really looking forward to it, and I was wondering if anyone had any good advice? I speak Japanese fairly decently, enough to get by, and since my friend can speak English she'll help me out, as well. Her parents don't speak any English, though. I know it'll be hot, so any tips on keeping cool? Also, any tips for the freakishly long plane ride over there? ^^; I love riding planes, but I'm easily bored.
We'll also be going to Tokyo Disneyland, has anyone ever been there? I'm really excited about that part~! ^^ Man, I'm going to fill up both of my 1GB memory cards on my camera with pictures~
But anyway, thank you to anybody who helps~ ^^

On the plane ride I suggest practicing Japanese. Weather it's writing kana or kanji or just practicing speaking it. If you get bored of that you could always bring music or maybe something to read. I remember being on a plane and that's what I did. If there's anything you like to do that's small enough to go on with you, you could always do that. 3nodding
As for keeping cool, drink lots of water. It really helps. 3nodding

Iroiro Thank you for your help~ ^^ Chiba-ken is a prefecture near tokyoto, what city? anyway, i would say you should try to know as much about or culture as possible, foreigner who dont get anything i really dont like, so it is best to know how to act, what to do, what is good, what is bad, what makes you foreign and what make you nativish, and i can't stress enough, practice pronounciation. * one last thing, do not act like you are japan crazy

Iroiro She lives in Chiba. As in Chiba-shi. ^^ And what would you classify as "Japan crazy"? O-o; chiba shi, you need more japanese in your english. japan crazy, um, well dont be like "EEE! anime!" and "oh god this so cool, *take 5 million photos" "omg! kewpie straps are so cool" "maaa, japan!" "ooh whats that? whats that? who s that? Gackt?!?!?" "pokki, pokki!" "oooo, look japanese person, oh look another one, and another one and another one (ok this is just joke ^_^)" and this is the most annoying "watashi wa igirisujin desu" "maa, you from england?" "no i am from america" "then why do you say i am english?" "because i am" "but you are from america, no?" "yes i am" "then you are not english" "no i am" ............ as you see shes not "igirisu jin" shes "amerikajin", igirisu refers to english people (form england)

Oh don't worry, I never act like that. ^^; I don't really like anime all that much, and I'm not obnoxious. Of course, I'm excited about my trip, but I know to be polite and considerate of others. ^^

Weee Tokyo Disney whee !! I just went there last week with my girl friend and wee had jolly good time. I have never been to Disney in the US but i hear that it is very similar. The lines are long and the food is uber expensive (just like everything else in Japan) but I had fun. Don't forget that the whole disney complex is divided in to Disney Land and Disney Sea, so choose your attractions accordingly

Oh chiba!!!my dad's parents live in kashiwa-shi and I went there last october!!It'll be lotz of fun!We were gonna go to disneyland but we went to nagiya so we didn't. It will probably be really similar to the one in the U.S because when I went to universal studio's in Osaka it had the same rides as the one in California. Well, I don't think there is anything to be cautious about except chikan(skirts) and suri's(pickpocket's)...which i don't really see much of but anyway they are out there. Also, the trains....don't forget to take your ticket when you put it in or you won't be able to get out of the station...once a foreigner forgot their ticket and I had to run to give it to them....Thankfully we were riding on the same train...
