Quest for Magical Staff Open - So Anyone Can Join, If They Ask *Wizard had decided that Athena had kicked his butt for the last time. He needed to get stronger and maybe even extend his personal power. He'd been reading up and training every day, but it just wasn't enough. He had finally decided that what he needed was the legendary Staff of the Magi to increase his attack power and also his magical prowess. So he set out from Caneton's house on a quest to find a Magical Staff somewhere in this land. *Since he did know where to start, he decided that he would go visit the Old Man on the Mountain. He'd heard of him (there's always an old man on a mountain in every story!), and that he dabbled in the arcane arts, so maybe he could help point him in the right direction.*

Doppelganger Battle *The Doppelganger stepped forward to attack, but Wizard, better used to his own body, was faster. He spun around the incoming punch, trying to smack the imposter against the back of his head?* Rolled a 3, so no Critical Hit I then rolled 6, 3 & 5, so the doppelganger dodges. *.. and he was surprised to find that his head wasn?t there.* You?ve got a really nicely trained body! This is wonderful! You?re no normal ?pretty boy!?*The imposter dropped low, and then came up at Wizard with an uppercut. Wizard threw up his arms in Defense, an electrical charge building in the air.* Rolled a 6, so this will be a Crit Hit x2 The Fake attacks for 29+27 STR&SPD x2 for 116 damage Wizard Defends with his Magic Guard for 55+30 DEF&SPD for 85?not enough, so he takes 31 damage, LIFE = 719. Oh, very nice! I didn?t know that you had a guarding move like that? I?ll have to give it a try*Wizard looked surprised as he wiped blood from the side of his mouth and the doppelganger laughed at the look on his face. The crowd was loving this fight, cheering and jeering from either side of the room.* That?s right! I?m an upper level shape-shifter? not just taking shapes, but also learning moves as I see them. That?s alright, you?re not good enough to beat me, so let?s see if you can use it correctly?*Out of the corner of his eye, Wizard noticed a finely crafted knife in a hip sheath on the young man standing next to him. He reached out, grabbing the knife fast enough that neither the man nor the doppelganger noticed it. Just as he expected, the air began to charge. Knowing that the shield would expand from the center of his body outward, he threw the knife, hoping that it would hit its target, unable to take the time to aim.* I rolled a 6 ((Just as a DM I rolled 1D6 to even see how lucky Wizard was?since 6?s are good in this battle system, I took the liberty to see if Wizard failed or not. This would not be used in an actual Deul!)) *The knife flew true, burying itself into the doppelganger?s foot, pitting it to the wooden floor beneath. The Doppelganger laughed at the futile attempt as he finished raising the shield the rest of the way. Knowing how his powers worked better than the Doppelganger would, he dropped to the floor, covering his head with his arms. *The static electrical charge on the outside of the shield made contact with the knife that was grounded in the floor, and it tried to discharge the electricity, but instead, the backlash hit the doppelganger for the full damage, which a concussive explosion that shook the building.* Rolled another 6 for Critical damage x 4 There?s no way to dodge or defend against this So the Magic Guard did 43+30 DEF&SPD x4 for 292 damage. The doppelganger?s Natural DEF is 15, so it takes 277 damage, LIFE = 0

Lamia Battle I guessed even, but rolled a 1, so the Lamia goes first. *The Lamia slithers in and tries to slash across Wizard's chest. Wizard tries to leap to the side to avoid her claws.* I rolled a 3, so no Crit Hit I then rolled a 4, 3, & 6. *Wizard is just barely able to stay away from her claws. Wizard turns to the side, swing his outstretched are to backhand her head. The Lamia hissed it's disapproval, ducking close to his side.* I rolled a 3, so no Crit. I rolled a 4,3,1, & 6, *So the Lamia dodges the attack as well, reaching out and trying to take a bite out of Wizard's unprotected side. Wizard tries to pull down his elbow, using it to knock the Lamia away, defending himself.* I rolled a 3, so no Crit. The Lamia does 28 + 35 STR&SPD for 63 damage Wizard defends for 32 + .30 DEF&SPD for 62 defense, 1 damage taken., LIFE = 749 *When she bit into him, the Angel felt a strange compulsion to follow the Snake Lady, but he shook it off, ignoring it. Wizard then brought his knee up to crush her head between his elbow and knee. The Lamia tries to slither backward fast enough to avoid the Blows.* I rolled a 6, so Wizard will do a Critical Hit x4 I then rolled a 2,5,4,4, so the Lamia is unable to dodge. So the Angel does 23 + 27 STR&SPD *4 for 200 massive damage. The monster's Nat DEF is 16, so she takes 184, LIFE = 266 *The Snake staggers back from the powerful blow, blustering in pain. She whips around, lashing out with her thick, scaly tail, trying to knock the man to the floor so that she can overpower him. Wizard leaps up into the air, trying to leap over the tail.* I rolled a 3, so no Crit. Then a 3, 1, & 2, no dodge, and Wizard is knocked to the floor, taking 29 + 35 STR&SPD for 64 damage, but his Nat DEF is 15, so he only takes 49 damage, LIFE = 700. *Once again, Wizard starts feeling a strange desire to do as the Lamia demands, but he picks himself up off the floor, shaking his head to clear the fog. The She-snake is muttering under her breath, and the hair on the back Wizard's neck begins to stand on end, warning him that magic was being cast. Wizard charged the Lamia, hoping to get to her before the spell was cast. Suddenly, the snake split into 2, and there were now two targets before him. Wizard just hoped that he was choosing the right one.* I guessed odd and rolled a 6, so Wizard guessed wrong and found nothing where his attack was headed. *Since she'd thrown off the Angel, the Snake whirled on him to scratch at him again. Since Wizard knew he'd gotten the wrong opponent, his Magic Guard went up, causing all of their hair to slightly stand on end in the close confines of the cavern.* I rolled a Critical Hit 2x damage For Damage, she does 12+35 *2 for 90 damage. Wizard defends for 61+30 DEF&SPD for 91 defense. The Magic Guard is barely able to deflect the attack, so the Lamia takes the damage, minus her Nat. DEF of 16, so her LIFE is now 191. *The Lamia, just stared at Wizard for a while, almost as if trying to figure out what had just happened. While she was distracted, the Angel kicked out at her, trying to catch her in the mid-drift. She sees it coming, almost too late, so she throws her arms down, trying to block the blow.* I rolled a 5, so no Crit. Wizard does 35 + 27 STR&SPD for 62 damage. The Lamia defends for 27 + 35 DEF&SPD for 62 defense, so no damage taken. *Now it was the Lamia's turn to attack. All she needed was to contact his skin one more time and then she could try to control him. He flicked open her claws, slashing at Wizard again while he was close to her. Wizard did his best to roll to the side, avoiding her claws.* Rolled a 3, so no Crit Hit Rolled 3, 4, 5 so no dodge Lamia does 32+35 for 67 damage Wizard's Nat Def is 15, so he takes 52 dam, LIFE = 648 He is also Charmed for 3 turns and can only act upon simple commands from the Lamia. *Wizard briefly feels the pain as he is slashed through his armor, but then a strange haze began to cloud his brain and only the thought of obeying the Lamia pervaded his mind. The snake lady sucked in her breath in glee, watching as Wizard's eyes begin to glaze over. Her Charm Person spell had finally taken effect. She knew that if she attacked him, then the spell would be broken, but it would only take one hit.* *Hidden in the dark corner of the room, forgotten by the combatants, Jason watched in horror as the snake lady distended her jaw and slithered closer to his dazed friend. He couldn't just sit and watch his friend get his head bitten off... literally! He grabbed a nearby rock and heaved it at the Angel's head, hoping to wake him up. The rock missed, hitting the snake. So he grabbed for another rock as the Lamia suddenly turned her attention on him. He threw the next rock, not really aiming, as fear slithered down his spine.* "Wizard! I could really use your help now!!" *The Lamia had decided that one of her prey was charmed, but the other had to be taken care of before her spell could be undone. The fear on this other one was all too palpable, and she actually grinned as she watched him squirm as she approached. Suddenly, she was attacked from behind, hit hard enough to make her head ring. She turned to see that Wizard was no longer charmed. Lamia Battle Continued Rolled a 6, for Crit x2 damage Rolled 1, 3, 4 so no dodge for Lamia Wizard does 31+27 x 2 for 116 damage Lamia's Nat Def is 16, so she takes 100 dam, LIFE = 91 "You'renot dazed anymore," Jason said in astonished relief. "Thanks to you! Your rock hit me in the back of the head, helping me to shake off her spell. Now, to finish this!"
*Wizard got into a defensive stance as the Lamia came at him.**The Lamia was mad that the little human had made her lose her chance to kill Wizard. She raced at Wizard, throwing herself in close to bite him. As she neared, Wizard sprung into the air, trying to flip over his attacker.* Rolled a 2, no Crit I rolled 3, 4, 6 for a dodge *Wizard easily flipped just over her head, landing and kicking her in the back. Since her attack missed, the snake lady tried to keep moving forward fast enough that she would be out of the range of his kick.* Rolled 6, for a Critical x3 Rolled 1, 3, 3, 4 so no dodge Wizard hits her for 22+27 x3 for 147 damage Her Nat Def is 16, so she takes 131 damage., LIFE = -40

*Wizard felt a strange surge jolt through the VR System. It had felt like something was trying to cut between his connection to Caneton.*
"Jason, stay here and stay hidden, I'll be right back."
*Jason, nodded and hid in a small cul-de-sac. Wizard then stepped around the corner and exited the VR System.
*Standing on the layer, he could tell that Caneton knew that something was wrong as well.*
"There's something sincerely wrong with the system. Find Icchan or Oogata and warn them that they're losing control of the....."

*Caneton ripped off the headset, gently picking up wizard and tucking him in his pocket. He then ran out of the VR Room, hoping to be able to find Mihara Chief or Oogata before whatever warning Wizard had given would come to pass.*
