{ Tiacapan 8D;;} A deep red-hued lioness padded softly along one of the outer tunnels of the Anansi pride. The softly glowing mosses had long since diminished...they grew sparcely in the smaller, father-reaching tunnels, and Tiaca navigated slowly and carefully, using scents and the feel of the dirt beneath her paws. She halted as she came to the upward slope that indicated an opening to the aboveground world, and very carefully emerged, eyes wide in order to adjust to her new surroundings.
The tunnel opening was, as usual, well concealed. The lioness made note of its location before flattening herself to the ground and slinking very carefully through the long grass. Her green eyes were sharp; she was looking for any unusual movement...

There was indeed movement in the grasses, which were stirred not by breeze but by an exuberant young lion charging through them, tearing along as fast as his paws would carry him - just to see how fast they could do so.
It was why he was past the edges of the swamp and onto drier, more open ground; it was hard to get up to speed for a good run with all the plants and trees and puddles and squishy spots.
The mud drying on the juvenile was almost indistinguishable from the brown of his coat, except on his back legs, where it had coated the paler fur. Safely close to home as he was, Nyoe was paying very little attention - unless the lioness from the tunnels was to notice him first, he was likely to plow right into her.

Green eyes widening at the movement of the young lion, Tiaca stepped sideways and lowered herself even more, observing for a moment before deciding that the juvenile didn't exactly look like a threat. She smiled slightly as he ran, and rose to her paws, head tilting as she took a few steps towards him, dust from the tunnels coating her own paws as opposed to mud on his.
"Hello!" She called out in what she hoped was a friendly tone. After all, it was better to have an amiable experience with those of other prides than no experience at all, which she had considered briefly... but decided to greet the other instead of slipping back into the tunnel unnoticed.

His head came up at the sound of a voice, and he brought his hind legs underneath himself, sliding to a quick stop. Warm brown eyes glanced over the dusty lioness as he grinned, piping up with his own cheerful greeting, "Hullo!"
"You're not from around here, are ya?" he asked, the observation not accusing but curious. "But you're sorta almost the right color, 'cept the blue. Whatcha doin' here?" Nyoe sniffed in her direction.

Tiaca grinned almost playfully at the young cub and shook her fur out, making the dust that had coated it fly off in clouds. Padding to the brown lion, she shook her head.
"Don't fit in so well now, do I?" She sat, curling her tail around her forepaws and smiling a bit sheepishly. "And, no I'm not. I'm...uhm.." She paused, not used to conversation with those who lived aboveground. "I'm just exploring," she answered finally, figuring that he'd buy that. After all, cubs liked exploring, right? At least, most of them seemed to.
"And what were you running after?" She inquired curiously, lifting her nose to try and catch any scents. "Dinner?"

"I've never seen anyone blue," he noted, admiring the fancy markings down her neck and back. "Auntie Wehu has some green, though." Nyoe plopped back on his haunches. "Exploring? Really? Did you find anything?" His tail lashed with childish enthusiasm for such pursuits.
"Nope, not dinner. Nothin', really. Just my own feet."

"Ah, there's not too much blue though..mostly red and orange." The lioness observed, looking down at her own pelt. She smiled and relaxed a bit, more at ease than she had thought she'd be around strangers.
"No, nothing yet," she answered, then grinned and flicked her tail. "Well, I found you!" she added jokingly, nodding in a conspiritorial manner.
"Ah, I see. Running after your own feet is a good time, if you're bored." She observed, glancing up at the sky. She had time to chat. No one would expect her back for a while.

"It's nice," he decided, looking down at his own brown paws. It wasn't anything flashy, but it suited his home, and he liked that. It made it easier to blend in, especially with the help of some mud in the right places.
Nyoe puffed out his chest then, raising his head and striking an unintentionally comic pose. "Yeah, I'm a great discovery! And a discover...er, too."
"Yeah. There's plenty else to do, I guess, but I just felt like runnin'. I'm sure everyone'll be alright without me for a little while." The pride was plenty safe in the swamp.

"Thank you!" Tiacapan replied, tilting her head at the Nyoe. He WOULD fit in well in the swamplands... something she didn't really have to worry about, living her life in the secret dark where people only saw you when you wanted them too. Still, her pelt did stand out, which often made her scouting more difficult then she would have liked.
"You are!" the lioness agreed, laughing as her new friend struck a pose. "Indeed? What have you discovered?" she asked curiously, flicking her tail and settling into a sphynx-like lying position.

"Well~" he began, mulling over what to tell her with an expression of concentration, "Kina and I conquered the waterhole." All because of his roar! It did still need some work, though. "And I found some crocodile eggs yesterday! They were soo tasty."
