This thread is for reviews on a romance novel that you have read. This is for those (like me) who need some new romance novel to read.

The Review should be written like this:

Title:
Author:
Rating:
(For instance, young adult, adult, etc.)
Pages: (This is optional, but you should put down if the book is long or short.)
Summary:
Review:
(Whether you liked it, what you did like, etc.)
Your Rating: (On a 1-5 scale, 1 being a piece of trash, 5 being the god of all books.)

Enjoy!

Title: Memoirs of a Geisha
Author: Arthur Golden
Rating: Adult
Pages: approx. 420
Summary: Chiyo is sold to a geisha house at age 9, and from there begins her training as a geisha in the 1930's.
Review: The writing of this story is very well done, I think. It is very believeable and descriptive, making it impossible to put the book down. However, in my view, the overall story fell short. Some parts of the book, for instance, the Chairman's confession at the end, were so unrealistic to me. However besides that, it was an enjoyable book.
My Rating 3.5

Title: On the Way to the Wedding
Author: Julia Quinn
Rating: Adult (for one very tastefully written sex scene)
Pages: 384
Summary:
Publisher's Weekly
...Gregory Bridgerton's six siblings have all fallen prey to love, so he figures he need only sit back and wait for "the one" to waltz into his life. Then he meets Hermione Watson. The "breathtakingly perfect curve of her neck" convinces Gregory that she's destined to be his, but Hermione's practical, plainspoken friend Lucy Abernathy throws cold water on his aspirations when she informs him that Hermione's heart belongs to another...

Review: As the final installment of an eight book series, it was a long wait for this book, but completely worth every minute of it. After being a bit disappointed with the last book (In His Kiss)--mostly because I did not much like the heroine and the ending left me a bit...well, disappointed--I was happy to note that Quinn's witty style had me laughing from page one to three-eighty-four. Not my favorite book of the series, but still very high up on my list. If you're a fan of Quinn's, you will not be let down.

Review: This is probably my favorite Harlequin romance novel. Though it is the second to last book of a series, you dont have to read the previous books to understand this one. The author keeps you very up to date on family history and such, and I really didnt know it was a series until the last page! This book always seems to suck me because of how lifelike and real the characters are. I really enjoy reading the book.

Title: Twilight
Author: Stephenie Meyer
Rating: 12+ (YA)
Pages: 498*
Summary
About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him — and I didn’t know how potent that part might be — that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.—page 195*

When seventeen-year-old Bella leaves Phoenix to live with her father in Forks, Washington, she meets an exquisitely handsome boy at school for whom she feels an overwhelming attraction and who she comes to realize is not wholly human.—official summary

Review: I was quite pleasantly surprised by the quality of this book. When I picked it off the shelf, I was more expecting an erotic fiction for which I would have to pick at piece by piece to get through the actual plot (as I had unintentionally learned to shy away from “vampire novels” due to this). Yet, what I discovered was much, much better: it was exactly what I wanted to read; nothing overly explicit, and it wasn’t all about demented vampires that ran around killing people — instead, it was perfectly balanced and very much a page-turner.
Your rating: 5

*Fact based on the paperback version of the book.

[And most definitely do not forget to pick up the sequel New Moon while you’re at it! wink ]
