When I was being taught Korean in the army, there were a couple days that it got fairly warm outside. Well, becuase of this, we were told to roll our sleeves up for the day. I did, and went to class. I forgot that I have a Celtic Braid going around my right forearm. My teachers freaked when they saw it, telling me that only gangsters have tattoos.
My question is this: I know my teachers are fairly old fashioned. Do Young Koreans still have this point of view? and does this mean i'll have to walk around in Korea with long sleeves all year round?

Well, You don't HAVE to, you can wear a wristband or whatever to cover it.. It's their way of thinking on how they look/think of you. xd

Right, but I guess I'm wondering how young Koreans will act to it. Since I plan on teaching English there, am I going to scare my students by having a tattoo? Or will they accept it a bit easier than their elders?

how young will the students be? in my opinion, if my teacher had a BIG tatoo, it would be a bit scary. if it was decent sized, it would be cool with me but i think it all depends on the teacher's personality, attitude, etc. towards the students.
