I used to be the ownee of two cats....I say ownee because well, they acted like I was theirs, not my parent's...
When I was young, one of them would even read with me. I would put a book in front of him and he'd read along as I was reading to myself. I would tell him to let me know when he was done with the pages and sure enough, he would look to the side of the book and tap the edge of the second page with his paw. I would be willing to swear on all that I hold holy that he was not only reading, but he could understand everything. Anyways...they were brother and sister and died a year and a half apart. After they were both dead they came to me in a dream and spoke to me and told me goodbye. I rarely if ever dream of anyone I know, so I'm fairly certain that they really were saying goodbye.
And nothing weird ever ahppened when they were around. I'm sure that if they had been allowed to be in the house at night that very little of what happened to me would have. My parents insisted that they sleep out in the garage though so they were never allowed to sleep with me.
I'm working on my parents to adopt a cat at the shelter I work at. She and I have an understanding, and I'm fairly certain that she'll be my familiar if she comes home with me.

CyKa This thread is specifically for any stories about animals that have shown sensitivity to spirits. If you look in the 'ghost stories' thread, I have already posted one about a cat named Tinker I used to own ^.^
I for one believe animals to be much more sensitive to the spirit realm then we are. They always seem to be more aware when 'stuff' is happening.
(This is also posted in the 'ghost stories' threads) I have spirits in my house that hang out in/near my bedroom at night. I have personally seen a little girl at the foot of the bed, and a full grown man leaning over me as I wake up.
So, sometimes (when my husband is not home ususally) when I am up late watching TV or playing on the computer ( heart ), all 3 cats and the dog will come tearing out of the bedroom in a mad dash. My dog is a chicken s***, so he usually runs to me, eyes all wide, ears back, shaking like a leaf, and I have to comfort him.
Whenever that happens, I can't bring myself to go anywhere near my room until I get the 'all clear' from my pets sweatdrop
Has anyone else noticed animals acting funny/suspicious when they sense spirits? Yus I have! whee I just moved into a new house. It's pretty big, and I think I've accidentally summoned ghosts into it. Ever since I started practicing with an ouija board, my cat has been acting strange. Whenever I feel some weird radiation from what eems to be another person, my cat goes crazy and starts chasing something around the house. He'll start yowling and attacking the air, as if he can see something I can't. I dunno, maybe he's just insane. But like I said, he only does that when I'm alone yet I feel like I'm being watched.

Not aloud to keep those. I think deer may be attracted to the paranormal . near my house is a battlefeild, and whenever I see something mysterious there, I also see deer nearby. Idk....

Usually he only stares so intently at bugs, but once in a while we'll catch him staring across the room and there isnt anything there.

A couple years ago when my cat was still alive, he stared into my closest and growled. Freaked me out pretty bad, and when I got the nerve to look, nothing was there.
What was cute about him though, was when I was younger, my sister snuck out and didn't have the keys to the house. She knocked on my bedroom window knowing I'd still be awake, but my kitty growled when he heard the knock, not knowing it was my sister. He was protecting me.
Thing is, though he's passed about a year ago, I can still feel his spirit. My mom even claims to have seen him before.

I thought every cat randomly bolted from one room to another.. I've never met a cat that hasn't done this at least once in a 24 hour period...
My cat randomly becomes enthralled with shadows, reflections of light, stray bits of dust or lint. I would not trust her odd behaviour to be an indication of anything more than her being like every other cat that becomes distracted by random crap.
The only time I have ever been certain that my cat was on to something was when she hissed at the guy who was helping my parents with renovations. My cat never hisses at people, ever, no matter what they're up to. He had been giving me the creeps all day, and it was nice to know that I was not the only one who noticed that something was off about him.

Has anyone else noticed animals acting funny/suspicious when they sense spirits? Well, when my cat Mojo is sleeping at the end of my bed he'll just stare into space. Since it's usually late at night I take him out of my room instead of running away. it is REALLY freaky. I hate it.

CyKa ((Sorry, didn't see this before sweatdrop ))Okies, you asked for it xp
Here is my freaky ouijia board experience that made me not want to do that stuff anymore, not w/out a professional medium anyways!
So, my middle little sister (I have 3 ), let's call her Susan. She is wiccan, and for a long time was very active with Ouijia boards. She started to have this one spirit always show up when she would have a session. It did and said the same things no matter who played with her, or if they knew what had happened before, and even if Susan never touched the mover. So I for one, am inclined to believe there was more to this then just the simple game...
It always, invariably said it was on her head, that it hated her, that it was evil (from the dark), and that it wanted her to die. Then, also invariably, something in the room would fall, and quite often, hit her in the head. EVERY TIME!
So, I was too freaked out by all this, and didn't want her to do it anymore, but she had a slumber party and all her friends were there, and they bust out the board and started to play. (This board had been 'cleaned' several times btw, and was also the second one, the first being destroyed) The whole time they were playing, I was like 'stop, you shouldn't be doing this!', and you could just feel the air get thicker. The room felt darker/more oppressive, bad..
Then this thing shows up and says it's on her head, it hates her, and she should die. Now, the only one of these particular girls who had played it before with Susan that was there was NOT touching the board/mover, and niether was my sister!!! None of these other chicks even new this had happened before. I literally started praying, in a diff room, but well within their sight, and in between little prayers, begging them to just stop.
They all start freaking out, even Susan, who had always played it cool before, like it was a joke. So a broom falls on her head, and the thing says it caused it. She's really freaked out, we all are now, and she starts saying 'I don't believe your real, you can't do anything.'
It says "I'm real" over and over, fast. So she makes the ultimate mistake of all time, and says "prove it".
Now, our cat was sitting on a chair in the room with them during all this, acting normal, in a deep sleep. All of the sudden, Tinker wakes up, and makes this horrible growly noise deep in his throat, like he's been hurt.
She says 'did you do that' to which it says 'yes' then Tinker growls again. So she says 'stop' and it says 'no' several times, right? And everytime it says no, he would growl again. His fur is all on end, and he is laying low, almost like he's being held down, and his ears are back, and his eyes are wide as dishes, and he's breathing really hard.
I am just beside myself at this point, so I just rush into the room and grab the cat, and take him outside of the house and pray till the feeling is gone, and he seems all calm again.
Susan took her oujia board out that night and burnt it, and held a massive pagan aura cleansing ceremony for her and all her friends, and as far as I am aware, has never touched a board since! (Truthfully tho, that house was never the same, I was glad when my family moved!) I just gotta say... Holy s**t. Please excuse my language if anyone might be offended.

I have always had a pretty strong connection to animals i am in all sense of the words an animal lover my dog is not overly sensitive to spirits she can feel them about as well as i can. She used to put her head on the couch like she was getting pets when no one was around in the house i used to live in just like she does when i pet her. That is about the strangest behavior i have see from her other then having a distaste for some people instantly and liking others instantly. She takes after me for the most part we have a ton of similarity's and i generally always know how shes feeling or what shes thinking but that's more from knowing her body language. I don't think shes a familiar but she is my best friend and has gone through a lot with me so i have learned to read her and i believe she has done the same to me.
