Today in the senate, the Republicans and Democrats had a meeting (Watched it ALL live on C-Span) about if Bellsouth and AT&T should merge
1) This would pretty much kill the internet because they would nearly have a monopoly
2) They would be the largest telicommunitcations company in the world
and other things
but both Republicans and Democrat represenatives agreed that they needed to keep Net Neutrality <3 and so they just ripped apart the two CEOs
the R-Rep asked (to AT&T): You said that AT&T obeys the law and protects its customers, but does AT&T give records of data to any third party, the government or any lawful group?
AT&T: *stupid look on face* We obey the law and protect our customers
R-Rep: *wtf look on face* Uh thats not an answer, *serious tone* Does *repeats question*
AT&T: Same thing
they repeat this like 5-9 times and the R-Rep is like: I dont know what your problem is but its a yes or no question
then it switches over to the D-Rep: He's thinking "wtf?" so he asks the same question to the Bellsouth CEO
the BS-CEO says that they do not/have not given records to the NSA but if they were asked to, they would because they must follow the law
The D-Rep and R-Rep nod and agree this is an answer and the D-Rep looks back at the AT&T CEO and says "Well its clear something is wrong since Bellsouth was able to give an answer yet you can not"
then the AT&T guy was like "Well thats classifyed information that I was told not to give out"
~Silence~
D-Rep: *continues on*
but WTF, HE'S THE ******** CEO, WHO HAS AUTHORITY OVER HIM?!?
They questioned it because many sources in the news led to AT&T giving out records of information to the government with hassle so they wanted to see if its true
he denied it
also they brought up Net Neutrality, and the AT&T guy just said "Well we need to charge users for using websites because we need to pay for expanding the industry"
Yeah bullshit right thar
Discuss: Ill try and find a video of it
