((I don't have time to post now. I'm leaving in a couple hours to return to my dad's. I came back from camp yesterday. I'm really sorry... I'll be back next weekend.))

((I'm back. For now... sweatdrop ))Meralda flung herself off the ground and regained her footing. Looking around for Zetsumeii, she was surprised when she discovered him floating hundreds of feet above her head. Her eyes widened as she realized a second too late that he was hurtling giant fireballs at her. About five feet behind her, a fireball exploded into the ground, knocking Meralda from her feet. Flying face first into the ground, she groaned as she spit dirt from her mouth. Feeling a stinging it her tail, she realized not all of her had escaped burns. Choking on smoke, she rolled over, and forced her eyes open. She gasped in horror at the sight of yet another fireball heading straight at her. Realizing she had no time to move, she quickly crossed her arms in front of her and consentrated. Not a second too soon, a bright pink enery shield is erected above her. She gritted her teeth as she felt the vibrations of the horrific explosion. Her sheild dissipated and she staggered to her feet, choking on the smoke that filled the entire area. She hoped that it would give her cover from Zetsumeii, who was still hovering overhead. There was also the slight chance, that he had not seen her erect the barrier right before the fireball hit. That would give her an advantage if he thought she was out of the picture.

Heavy smoke had now thickened over the field and for several minutes he stopped his onslaught and waited for a sign of the girl beneath him. After noticing no retaliation or visible sign of her presence, Zetsu began to worry about her condition. He knew that this was merely a training exercise and by no means had he intended to permenantly harm his opponent. Slowly he lowered his "cloud" to ground level. Once near the ground, he allowed the cloud to dissapate and he landed softly on the grass. He then summoned a small space of fresh air around his nostrils and mouth and began to search out his opponent.

Meralda circled around to where he had aimed his last fireball at her, hoping he had taken the bait. The smoke was so thick, she couldn't see or smell him. Meralda switched to crawling on all fours as she neared the crater that had been left by the explosion. Ignoring the pain from her burns, she focused all her attention on stalking her prey. There! For just an instant the smoke had cleared, revealing a human-sized shape through the smoke. Smirking, she spread the fingers of her right hand and summoned all the static electricity from the surrounding air to her hand. Collecting all the electricity she could, she pointed her index finger at Zetsumeii's back, unleashing a giant bolt of electricity.

The instant Zetsu head the crackle of some kind of lighting, he whirled around and attempted to fend it off. His attempt at defense had failed and quickly the huge burst of lightning struck him down. In shock he had released his protection from the smoke as he fell to the ground with his back charred and black. His last watery thought before sinking into unconciousness had caused him to smile. "Never soften for an opponent.."

After releasing the giant bolt of electricity, Meralda staggered and fell to her knees. That attack had cost her dearly and if Zetsumeii had managed to deflect or avoid it, she had left herself wide open for retalliation. Expecting to be struck down any moment, she was surprised when the attack didn't come. Slowly, she climbed back to her feet, and warily glanced around. The smoke was finally clearing and she squinted and a dark shape on the ground in front of her. She gasped when she realized it was Zetsumeii. She approached him warily, expecting that it was some sort of trick. Suddently the smell of his charred flesh reach her nose and she gagged. Empting the contents of her stomach on the ground, Meralda turned back to him. Slaying street thugs and murderers had never bothered her, but now tears came to her eyes as she kneeled beside him. She hadn't meant to hurt him so much. She hadn't meant to... Suddenly she realized he was still breathing. She sobbed with relief as she carefully picked him up and put him over her shoulder. Ignoring the pain from her burned she set off as fast as she could for the infirmary.
