My favorites are Hiei X Mukuro and Yusuke X Keiko.

Hey... I haven't posted in this thread eek I could have sworn I had. Well, time to revive it >3.

Most people who know me here on Gaia know that one of my all time favourite Yu Yu Hakusho pairings is Kurama/Hiei. I think they are just so awesome together... so much slash potential for those two... A second favourite pairing of mine would have to be Youko/Kuronue, I couls have so much fun with those two... then to round out my top three I would have to go with Yusuke/Kurama, but I am VERY particular about this one. Basically it has to be done just right, Keiko needs to be dealt with properly and fairly... or, it has to be a fly of the handle hot, sweaty, regretable night that neither of them speak of ever again sweatdrop .
Though technically those were my favourite slash pairings. My favourite canon pairing by far is Yusuke and Keiko. That pairing is both sweet and amusing. My next favourite canon pairing would have to be Kuwabara and Yukina. It's just too sweet not to love ^_^.

What you speak is very true Jesenae... The Hiei/Kurama pairing is something that must be handled delicately. Truth be told I am rather picky about the pairing myself. There are certain plotlines involving those two that I just won't read. talk2hand I tend to like pairings with Hiei and Kurama to be intertwined with the series somehow... I DESPISE it when authors decide that Hiei needs to be introduced to Kurama's mother and that Kurama all of the sudden needs to explain everything about himself, the Makai, and Hiei. It would NEVER happen. Also, if Kurama and Hiei are going to be together after the series has ended, I need to see a believeable way of them staying together. Although it is rare to find those. Usually an authour will either make Hiei give up life in the Makai and settle down in the human world to live some boring life with Kurama... or they'll make Kurama abandon his family with out any word and live in the Makai again with Hiei. Of course almost ALWAYS if Hiei is going to be thrust into the human world that stupid scenario with Kurama's mother will come up. In reality it's not Keiko and Yusuke's relationship I see as doomed, it's Kurama's and Hiei's, that is, were they to have one. Even though they are one of my favourite pairings, I can't see them lasting. In a way, I kind of like that too. I like it when Kurama has these feelings for Hiei that he can't quite sort out... then he realises that he loves Hiei. Kurama pursues Hiei(realistically of course) and Hiei at first rejects Kurama. However, when Hiei storms off to think about any of the things Kurama might have said, he begins thinking and thus realizes that he might feel something for Kurama as well. In my opinion demons can feel love, if you look at the Makai saga of Yu Yu Hakusho, you can see that Togashi feels the same way to a degree. So, Hiei begrudgingly returns to Kurama, angry that he can't get the thoughts out of his mind, and they do develop some kind of a relationship. Now, if an author can make the relationship last even beyond what you see happening in the series and manga, wonderful, however, I usually like it, and find it more realistic, for Kurama and Hiei to part ways in the end.
When it comes to Yusuke and Kurama I can actually see where you're coming from Jesenae. I have seen the countless subtext for that particular pairing possibility in the show and I do love it. However it's because I am such a Keiko supporter that I usually don't like how this pariticular pairing is handled, even though I do enjoy it so much. The thing is, I have seen way too many an author just have Yusuke toss Keiko to the side. Like all of the sudden it's, "screw you Keiko, I never want to see you're ugly b**** face again, I am gay and in love with Kurama!" I'm sorry but even if Yusuke and Keiko's relationship wasn't going to last, Yusuke is still very fond of and very protective of Keiko. Really, she's been all Yusuke's had for a very long while, that is, until he died and came back as a Spirit Detective. It was then that he started developing other friendships and coming out of his shell a little more. I rather like fanfiction between Yusuke and Kurama that takes place after the series end. Oh, I DIE for that stuff. Because usually it does deal with how Yusuke and Keiko's relationship is going to fail. Such as both Keiko and Yusuke realising it was just to childish to get married(or of they're not already married, continue on being a couple). So Yusuke goes and finds Kurama and the two of them talk it out... and somewhere down the line they develop a relationship. "Realization" fics are also good in my mind. Those usually entail Yusuke realizing that he treats Kurama slightly differently than the other guys on the team, he's more protective of Kurama and things like that, then he starts to realize he's attracted to Kurama... So he goes and he has his little talk with Keiko, and they break off what ever romance they had, Yusuke goes to Kurama, they get together, life is happy again. I don't even mind if people try to write this scenario into the series. "Realization" fics are also the kinds of fics that usually take those little scenes from the series that pretty much show that a relationship between Yusuke and Kurama is almost paved, if Keiko were a) non existant or b) dealt with in a proper manner.
