Currently im a juinor in high school i just started Tech theatre hopeing id make freinds and itd be an Easy A, However iv fallen head over heald madly in love with it. Ive always liked theatre but i never realized how much work goes into it and i love teching building painting all of it...sept sound that scares me. Next year im takeing a Tech again of course and also Theatre 1 ill be the oldest one but i can grin and bear it, and Rehearsed Improv, Ive always expected myself to go into Teaching but i never knew what i wanted to teach now i think i may want to go into teaching technical theatre. My plan is to start out in community college and transfer over to My local univeristy. Anyone working this same or similar plan, OR anyone currently teaching theatre want to give me a few pointers?

Yeah, I'm in my first year of college as a theatre major. I was originally going to be a secondary ed major in theatre, but it's to complicated at the school I attend. It's much more english then theatre and that's not really what I want. My plan is to move closer to New York City after I graduate in 2008 and see how I fair there. At a later date I wish to get my teaching certification and try to become a drama teacher.
We'll see how things turn out.

one thing tokeep in mind if you want to teach tech theatre you might want to become a TD (tech director). this way you can get a job at a college at teach students that work in the shop with you. another thing with teaching tech theatre you would also have to concinder grad school.
right now i am working in the shop at the college i attend and the TD has taken me on as an inturn and has thought me allot in the past 16 weeks or so. alot more then i would learn in a class.
