I have found that haunted hallways/rooms/area's might have sheilds put up around them, the most common is the sheild of fear, these sheilds do not stop you from moveing at all! but it makes all who go past it loose controll of there sense's and get scared and run away! alone you might not even have to touch the sheilds boundtrys to be affected, so its best to travle in a very big group, HOWEVER! all though you can get closer in a big group, once you get to close then the effect will be even stronger(ie. alone you can't get that close but you only run a few inch's, but if you were in a group of 60 people then you would take a bus out of state), another sheild is the neverending path sheild, no matter how much you run or walk you will never get any closer, and then when you give up and turn around, where you started is right behind you makeing you feel like you never even moved, there is also the cold sheild, when you go in you will start feeling so cold that you can't stand it! and leave.. there is also the loop sheild where if you opened up a door and wen't in then the next thing you know it you are walking into the room you were just in!, there is also the possession sheild where when you walk in, you get possessed and walk allway to somwhere else and then once you have controll of your body again you notice that you are back home or on a bus. and then there is the insanity sheild, you go in..and die of insanity.
those are really just the most common ones I know of!
also while I was typeing this I noticed that I posted it in the wrong area so can a mod please move this to the ghost's subforum..

There are almost no documented cases of what you describe in any of my books or on the net. How did you reach these conclusions?

I actually have a shield/set of wards about my bedroom so that foreign spirits can't get in. XP

*shields, please* And I'm pretty sure that people do not just walk into a certain area and randomly die of insanity. But wards usually work against whatever you set them against. Although being specific can sometimes exclude things and then they get in. Really never heard of any of these shield experiences. Interested to know where you found them though. Or if someone told you about them.
