tokyo ben does have some difference. first you should know that even though standard understood everywhere, know the pLace you going to dialect will make you more accepted and respectable
TOKYO-BEN IS TOKYO DIALECT, THIS IS STANDARD IN JAPAN BUT, IT HAVE SOME DIFFERENCE THAT NOT USED IN STANDARD, THEY ARE MOSTLY INFORMAL AND CAN BE DROP (EXCEPT SHITO)

first tokyo-ben , it have only 5 difference form standard, and 3 of them sometime not said:
人-しと is how you say this at tokyo-ben

じゃん- this sometime used insted of じゃない, this one of those things you only hear with friend and family

~ている- usually smashed into ~てん
like above it only said in freind and family (and only in tokyo dialect)

つう sometime said insted of 言う, except in past tense (it can but not when telling what someone say)

girl sometime say のー when they can say either の or よ
this is like others, only in normal speech

Aiko_589 first tokyo-ben , it have only 5 difference form standard, and 3 of them sometime not said: 人-しと is how you this at tokyo ben this is only one that have to be say. remember that tokyo dialect is where standard speech come form. the unique to tokyo-ben are only for frein and family, and can even be use as slang

DIALECT STEREOTYPE
each dialect has stereotype here few:
KANSAI-BEN: many people find this dialect rude and are offended by it if you talk to them this way OSAKA-BEN: this is consider funny dialect because the use chii,kii,nii,oo, and chuu alot TOHOKU-BEN:considered farm talk, like people in north america with funny accent TOKYO-BEN: considered girly OKINAWA-BEN: considered barbaric, it has many souns that go suzu KYO KOTOBA: only dialect with no bad stetreotype. it dialect of kyoto. it considered sophistaced and melodious. it alot like kansai-ben, so i suggest instead of learnong that learn this
