I am sorry for the stupid post. All that junk complaining I did... that wasn't right of me. I am just frustrated that I work so hard and don't seem to get any better. Thank you all for commenting and posting. I sincerely apologize for acting so childishly.

i think its fine the way it is. and i can definately see where you would get frustrated with people telling you the "flaws" in it. but i can tell you that a lot of people like to critique art, myself included, not so they can down someone else, but so they can see the same flaws in their own work. im not sure if you provided a descrpition saying that you werent interested in hearing about the "flaws", but if you did, i completely agree with your frustration. if not, perhaps try that next time. but i personally agree with you; you've used style to create a really cool and interesting peice.

personally, i believe that if ANYONE feels they'd be offended by people critiqueing their work, they should post it at all. i don't think artist enviroments should be about stroking eachother egos, rather paying attention to small things and learning from one another.
a lot of people do distortion the body, usually you can tell when the distortion is intentional or if it's a simple mistake. in this case it's hard to tell, but since you've already expressed your feelings on how you don't want negative critiques then i won't say why. i don't even know why you'd post an image in an artist guild and ask such a thing sweatdrop

Thank you for the reality-check. I was wrong to act that way. I didn't inted for it to seem like I only wanted to be praised... I was just sad that I worked so hard and put so much love into this piece, and was only getting comments that seemed to focus on everything BUT the work I put into it. Again, thank you for helping me realize how silly I was being, and I apologize for coming-off as so touchy.

i know how frustrating the whole process is and how much love people put into their work, but you shouldn't be attatched to the final outcome - it really isn't healthy. everything is a learning process, so when you mess up on something and someone points it out, you should just say "ok, next time i'll remember not to do that". and i also know we all get to a point where we get upset at people only pointing out flaws, but as soon as you realize that this drawing doesn't mean anything more than -this is how much better i've gotten from my last one- then it won't bother you as much. soon you'll be able to see all the flaws yourself beforehand and fix them before displaying your work. that's essentially everyone's goal as an artist. only when you get to this point can you defend your work and know how, because before then you're more of a student than anything else.
as for this piece, i do think it's nice. i haven't seen your previous work, but the proportions are well handled. if you want to make a distortion that is obvious, i'd suggest you'd push it a little further so it's obvious. for example, if you want to make a character with an exagerrated nose, then make it HUGE and not slightly larger than a normal nose. if you make the distortion very small, then it won't come across as one and people will just say "the nose is a little too big".

it's that kind of "i'm an artist" mentality that prohibits people from advancing forward. rolleyes it's egotistical. i am just saying what i know from my years of experience. hasel, if you're at the point where you can see what mistakes you make while you're making them and can achieve a high level of quality and percision in your work, then good for you.
