Several people have asked about fanfiction. I thought it would be a good idea to have separate threads for each person's fanfiction. So if you have fanfiction regarding anything related to Anita, Merry or Laurell K. Hamilton in any way, please start your own "new topic" here in the guild. That way the stories can be as long as the author wants and you won't have to scroll between stories, you can just jump from story topic to story topic.
Anyone wanting to discuss the story, please be kind and keep criticism constructive and not intentionally hurtful.
If you have any questions, please contact me.

As Celes Star wrote in her introduction, Laurell K. Hamilton does not like or approve of fanfiction using her characters. I do not know how she feels about RPs done with her characters, but I can't imagine she would like that either.
I just thought that anyone thinking about posting fanfiction might want to know how LKH feels about the subject. I have always thought fanfic was the truest form of flattery, but she obviously doesn't feel that way.
I respect LKH very much, and I do not want to blatantly disregard her wishes, but I know that everyone here in the guild is here because they love her writing so much. The reason I am allowing fanfiction, is because I don't think anyone here is trying to "steal" her characters. It is a form of reverance that we write and RP using her characters. Also it helps us pass the time that is so hard to bear between publications.
I hope my judgment on this matter does not offend anyone, but if it does, please let me know. If a majority of you here feel we should not post fanfiction or RP using her characters, then I might reconsider, but this is how I have decided to maintain the guild at this moment.
I for one look forward to reading anything anyone has to post. (pokes tankbbg and Coconut_Rei then smiles)

I'm suprised to learn, that, LKH doesn't like her actual characters used in fan fiction... As an artist, isn't imitation the ultimate form of flattery? I guess she has her reasons though

The way she explained it was that it invalidated her copyright.
She doesn't personally mind if we write the fanfiction, she just can't acknowledge it, or she has no legal basis for copyright...
sweatdrop I don't get it... since I thought that was what disclaimers were for... but yeah...

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, I have been out of town.
You may post any original stories as long as they relate in some way to the Anita Blake Universe or some other LKH universe.
They don't have to have Anita as part of the story, but if they get too far off topic, I may ask that they are posted elsewhere, but you may post a link to the story here. The same goes if it becomes too lengthy. If it becomes too lengthy then I may ask you to post it somewhere else & just include a link here.

LKH's not wanting fanfictions is totally valid, i mean, the stories are hers, if you invade them, for any reason, it's not fair to her because she's not getting paid for it.

I completely understand that viewpoint, but I also know that most fans do it out of sheer adoration, not in any way trying to cause her harm.

Eh, I don't agree with it really.
I understand, because I don't think I'd read a whole lot of fanfiction regarding my story, but if people want to they can. *Shrugs*
I figured she gets paid enough with us actually buying the books, you know?

I think it would be cool if you just made a sub-forum for all fanfics, RP's, and stories about LKH characters. So all non general discussion could be easier accessed.
